- Zestiria refers to "Zest", meaning passion or zeal;
- Game has character designs from Inomata, Fujishima, Okumura, and Iwamoto;
- Seems to be more "open-world" and to have "bigger fields";
- Takes place on the continent of Greenwood;
- War between the Highland Kingdom and the Lawrence Empire;
- Baba says that they built the new LMBS based on surveys asking what system fans enjoyed the most;
- The story will revolve around the subject of “dragons,” which is also the reason why it’s shown in the logo of the new title. According to Baba, dragons symbolize fantasy, which is something they’d like to focus on for the upcoming title;
- UFOTABLE confirmed;
- Hikaru Kondo, producer of Japanese animation studio Ufotable, who worked on the Tales of Symphonia OVAs, will also be involved in the development of Tales of Zestiria;

Real Map Battles” are one of Tales of Zestiria‘s new battle features. It allows fights to unfold on the same map players run across and explore, rather than transition into a separate arena like previous entries. The topography and obstacles present vary depending on location. Fighting in a watery area, for instance, will see characters splashing about as they run around the battlefield.

There is also a new “Map Action” system. With this, players can use Family of Heaven characters’ magic to pull off special actions on the field while exploring, which can be used to clear obstacles, move to different locations up ahead instantaneously, erecting barriers that make it difficult to be seen by enemies, and so on. Naturally, new paths in areas that have been previously visited can be opened in this manner once the right party member is present later on in the game. This also influences battles in that hitting enemy symbols on the field with good timing bestows advantages once fighting commences.

Party members will also accompany the player on the field this time around. They can be talked to, triggering a wide variety of conversations. Some are incidental, not unlike skits, but some also contain important information that’s worth paying attention to.

Leading digital entertainment company Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe today announced that it will be bringing Tales of Zestiria, the latest entry in their beloved RPG series, to the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system and PC via Steam, in addition to the previously announced version for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system. For more than 20 years, the Tales of franchise has been captivating fans around the world with its traditional Japanese RPG elements married with innovative real-time combat systems and beloved characters.

An unseen evil force known as Malevolence is spreading across the land, corrupting the world and causing humanity to falter. Players will embark on an epic journey as Sorey, a young pure-hearted adventurer whose destiny is to become The Shepherd, an individual of great power that can banish Malevolence. Does Sorey have the courage and heart to wield this extraordinary responsibility for good, or will he fall prey to the evils of its power?

Tales of Zestiria introduces a new version of its celebrated real-time battle system, allowing for faster combat with side dashes and new combo opportunities with the fusion techniques. Throughout his quest, Sorey will befriend humans and spirits known as Seraphim, unseen to most humans, to aide him on his journey. Because of Sorey’s unique ability to communicate with the Seraphim he is able to fuse with their essence to create new elemental artes for strategic attacks to decimate foes.

“The Tales of series continues to connect with RPG fans searching for a pure Japanese role-playing experience. With the high adoption rate of the current generation of consoles and continued popularity of the PC platform, we are more than excited to be able to adapt Tales of Zestiria to the PlayStation 4 system and Steam exclusively for Western fans across the Americas and Europe. Players will now be able to choose which platform they want to experience the Tales of Zestiria adventure on!” said Herve Hoerdt, Vice President of Marketing & Digital at Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe.

Tales of Zestiria will be available across Europe, Middle-East and Australasia for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on October 16, 2015. PC (via Steam) version will be available starting October 20, 2015.
