Naturally, there's nothing there.

Character designs and some information on the direction G.rev plans to take with this. They are working on making the fighting mechanics more involved, while still retaining the accessibility of the original.

The main thing is the ships. I hated the way half the ships looked in the first game.

You've gotta be shitting me?

Wow!

I'd'a never guessed they would follow this game up. Great news, indeed.

Gah! Where? I can't find the new ship designs anywhere in the linked materials.

I was replying to Macaw's comment about the cool character designs. I mean, yeah, they look cool, but what matters most is the ships, because those are the ones you end up seeing the most while playing. And half the ships in the first game were ugly.

We still haven't got any idea what the "ships" in this game will look like.

Final title: 旋光の輪舞 Dis-United Order
(Senko no Ronde Dis-United Order / Senko no Ronde DUO)

http://www.grev.co.jp/ronde2/

Runs on Type X2 and a 360 port is all but confirmed (speculates I).

I think it looks smashing: the up-close detail in the fighter on the fourth screen is worlds away from the first game. Just the thought of playing this on a twin Vewlix 32"-screen setup makes me consider moving back to Japan. The country's arcades are in for a hell of a time when this gets released. Go Go G.rev!

And seriously, they need to make a hori STG for the Type X2 next... Border Down 2 or whatever, I don't care. IT NEEDS TO HAPPEN!!!1

I can't stress how great a decision the move to the Type X2 was. This game was MADE for a widescreen format -- the gorgeous 360 port of the first installment proved that. I am so so so glad they did not go back to Naomi with this one. Fuck Naomi. Fuck Mamoru-kun*. THIS IS THE FUTURE!

AND THE PRESENT!

Seriously.

*Not really, but you get my point.

Rather ironic that the former Taito employees are making their next game on Taito hardware.

Just because they are former employees doesn't mean they hate their former employers... I'd say it's fitting if nothing else, but it's not as if they had many options either way.

NO! Sakurako (third character from the left of the partner character row) is not a playable character anymore! :(

Also, the support character to the right of her reminds me of Terry Bogard during his Mark of the Wolves days.

Looks like it's going to go through one major arcade revision before we'll be able to use all of the characters they planned to release, since there are many silhouettes.

It looks like the official website was updated (slightly) with an arranged version of the playable character roster picture... though this time around it features a new character! This fabulous looking red-haired man!!

Image

Also I find it quite strange that Henri's portrait is shadowed, considering he was one of the first characters confirmed. Weird.

Edit: I also just noticed that when you click on the roster picture on the homepage it links you to this image showing you the entire support cast:

Image

I'm very disappointed that Lili is now a support character along with Sakurako! Although I do like the character designs for the support cast -- the boy who looks like he may be a doctor is really cute!

I'v been checking the official site like crazy for updates over the past couple of weeks or so, and it now seems that Mika has been added to the playable characters.

Image

I'm happy Mika is returning, I thought it might have been him while his portrait was shadowed. I also like how they kept his military beret even though he is now dressed in casual attire! I'm really glad he's in the game since he was my favourite in the original.

I think they may be doing some sort of character countdown every week, revealing a new character each time? I'm really eager to see what the rest of the new cast look like.

I seem to be the only one making posts on this thread lately...

New location test videos have surfaced on Youtube showcasing the new characters! I paused some of the videos on the character select screens and managed to catch some of the new characters' names:

Silver-haired girl: Ursure

Image

Red-haired man: Jasper

Image

I posted the videos and took lots of screencaps of the new characters' names over at the new Senko no Ronde LiveJournal community:

http://community.livejournal.com/senko_ ... /1351.html

Please feel free to join, it would be good to have a place for Senko fans to gather and share news and information regarding the series... since there really aren't any English fanpages out there. I'm aiming for this place to become a real hub for all Senko related information!

Comments like this are unnecessary. I am the only one making posts in 90% of the news threads in this forum -- what do you want, people's sympathy? If someone has something to say they will say it -- you just keep doing what you are doing, which is sharing your observations with whoever is interested enough in this game to keep checking this thread. And people ARE checking it, as well as all the other threads -- see the "views" counter if you don't believe me.

As long as you are providing useful information of course it's not annoying. It's what this forum's purpose is: a news service.

I am looking at the back of the flyer, where it says "12 Player Character x 2 Variation x 12 Partner Character = 288 patterns", and I am thinking they riffed this idea off Arcana Heart. Good on them. That means the game will probably be very well balanced -- i.e. it will take a very long time to figure out if some of the configurations are superior to most others, merely because of the sheer number of available configurations. This is yet another advantage of increasing complexity: it takes care of balancing issues... at least for a while. And the more complex the game, the longer it takes for those balance issues to appear.

It looks really beautiful. I mean the graphical update is not THAT huge, but the models sparkle with detail, and especially the backgrounds. And there seems to be a much greater variety of shot types, all of which look gorgeous too.

Every time I see a forum thread on this game bumped my heart skips a beat at the expectation of a port. Not yet unfortunately.

EDIT: And some comments on the changes:

adversity1 wrote:Unfortunately it is not in Arcadia's top 10 this month.

I'm not sure why since there haven't been many recent releases and the game enjoyed an initial buzz, but there seemed to be some serious balance issues with the first version. Like the character I used mainly, Henri, is nearly useless against a good Fabian or Shinobu player. There is also the possibility that I just don't know the game well enough. But from what I saw at Hey! in high level play, Shinobu, Lanatus, Fabian and Jasper were very very strong. About a month later I went back to Hey! and hardly anyone was playing. Waiting for 2.0? Or was 1.0 so broken as to be unplayable? I'm not sure.

Main changes for ver. 2.0:

Addition of Sakurako and Ernula

System changes:
Brief invincibility added when using a defense assist unit.
Missile attacks and some other destructible attacks now put the opponent in down status when they hit.
Invincibility period for long downs changed from 50 to 70 frames.
Bomb assist attacks have been slowed down (good!).
Hyper beam (alternate bomb attack) speed increased.
Barrier is now unusable during Overheat.

Character changes

There's a lot of them, so I can't list them all but:

Stronger:
Leif
Henri
Yurusiel
Chanpo
Jasper
Fabian (although some attacks have been modified to make him weaker)
Theo
Mika

Weakened:
Shinobu
Luca
Lanatus
