Looks like a fun two-player experience. I would like to see some scanlined screens, because even without them the game looks pretty good, so I am wondering how much better it might look with them. The only thing I don't like about the aesthetic is the modern sound quality and the narrator's voice -- at least in the trailer. I mean they are top notch, but they just clash with the rest of the retro aesthetics. My brain hears the voice and thinks "If you can do this, why are you using 16-bit graphics?", and it takes me out of the setting. Not a huge negative, by any means, but just something that niggles.

I am also really liking the team behind this. They look like real gamers who know their shit.

Easy Trigger Games wrote:IN DEVELOPMENT
FOR CONSOLES AND PC

Huntdown is currently under development for consoles and PC and will be released in late 2017. The developers are passionate about arcade games and retro games. The founders grew up in the 1980s, feeding Commodore computers with cassette tapes and floppy disks while trying to do some magic.

Tired of endless runners with sloppy pixel work (rotating pixels, etc.) and games filled with countless in-app purchases of weapons and health kits, they finally decided to make a game that they would like to play theirselves - one with rich gameplay, challenging levels and hand-drawn pixel animations. Just like the old days.

ABOUT EASY TRIGGER GAMES
A SMALL TEAM FROM SWEDEN

Founded by Tommy Gustafsson and Andreas Rehnberg, Easy Trigger Games officially slithered out of its egg in October 2016 as a new company. The team is also expanding, we are currently three guys working with Huntdown in full-time, thus two guys part-time helping out with the Sound FX. Read more about the team here.

Unfortunately, they only mention local co-op, at least for the time being. Also, what little they show of boss fights doesn't seem very complex -- a common Western failing in this type of game. But we'll see.
