E3 Trailer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeDoHNZthX4This trailer makes the game seem much more exciting than previous ones, though I am still not fully happy with the art direction. There's something cheap about it that makes the action seem small-scale instead of the grand-scale epic that you'd expect of this kind of game. Same thing that
Age of Wonders III had, actually. What's missing is
Alpha Centauri's elegance, but let's hope this inferiority is confined to the aesthetics and doesn't extend to the mechanics (which it probably will, let's face it).
Story and Pre-Order Trailer PEGI:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6X27sPdTcsThe story is... all over the place too, unfortunately. It has nothing in common with
AC's philosophical theme. It seems like a mismash of anime influences with random stuff like dinosaurs and ill-fitting music. It's far better than a sterile, story-less strategy game, but it seems not as good as it could have been.
Anyway... it's the most exciting strategy release of the summer, for sure, for what it's worth. Probably won't be worse than
Beyond Earth, which had even less character, from what I have seen...
And by the way, ONE and PS4 versions are coming too.
