Some more work for you ronan, when you have the time.

I'd like a header for the Steam and the Origin threads in the Online forum, and a new one for the PSN thread:

http://culture.vg/forum/topic?f=23&t=4710
http://culture.vg/forum/topic?f=23&t=4630
http://culture.vg/forum/topic?f=23&t=4564

The last one is not necessary, since I already have something there, but if you can make something better it would be useful.

And then I'll need a couple of headers and smaller banners in various sizes for the clan and the YouTube channel that I am about to launch. Don't have many ideas yet for the source images, or the exact sizes of the headers/banners, though, so I'll get back to you on those soon.

Finding the source images will be the biggest problem.

Here are some first attempts for the Origin header. It needs some more work, but I cannot find much time right now. (Again in business trip...)

I've used two of them:

http://culture.vg/forum/topic?t=4630
http://culture.vg/forum/topic?t=4633

The others are good too, but I am sticking with the more conservative ones for now. Maybe I'll switch them around later. They are all great, so improve them if you think you can, but personally I can't say they really need more work.

And by the way, I could use alternate ones for Steam, Live and PSN, for the same reason I could use one for Origin: for their threads in the Games forum.

On another note, I decided to try using the same font for The Cult logo as for the videogame books. Might as well keep the number of fonts used throughout the site to a minimum, since it's hard to find fonts that match each other. So what I'd basically like for a start is a little banner, the same size as all the other banners on the sidebar of the frontpage (270x100), which will say "Home of THE CULT", where "THE CULT" will be in as large font as possible given the space, and taking up as much of the width of the banner as possible, ideally its entire width, and "Home of" will be in small font hovering over the name of the clan, at the top left of the banner.

And then I'd like another banner, same dimensions, that just says "THE CULT". The reason I want this is because I want to try putting the "Home of" over the banner, in the same font as the "Most Wanted" and "Coming Soon" categories on the sidebar of the frontpage.

As for the colors of the banners, you could try a few variations, but I believe white for the "Home of" and red for "THE CULT" would make the most eye-catching combination. And if you could use the same red as in the covers to Videogame Art and the Genealogy, that should be perfect.

Where are you right now? India or Japan again?

Alright, I will focus on the Steam header next, then.

Here are some clan headers. (The font only features capital letters.)

As for my location, it is South Carolina this time. My first time in America. I am a bit disapointed because I have not seen any wanted posters of you yet...

They've got bigger fish to catch so I am not complaining :)

I've never been to the east coast. Only to the airport in New York. I hear the Carolinas are nice, especially this time of the year, when most of the tourists are gone. You should try to do some touristy stuff too, if you can spare the time.

The logo work is awesome, by the way, and I already updated the frontpage. Thanks a lot! Another thing I'd like to ask you in the same vein is if you could make "channel art" based on the logo for the YouTube channel. Currently it looks like this:

https://www.youtube.com/user/insomniacult

and what I would like to try is to replace that generic Tokyo image with a giant logo of The Cult.

Here are YouTube's guidelines for how to create the image:

https://support.google.com/youtube/answ ... opic&hl=en

It has to be 2560x1440, and then YouTube automatically crops it to work in a variety of devices. I basically want The Cult logo, exactly the same as the version I uploaded to the frontpage, to be inserted in the "Text And Logo Safe Area" of that template that YouTube gives you, and everything around it to be black.

This has a higher priority than any of the other headers, because I am planning to launch the YouTube channel in the next few days.

I think this should work. The PNG file size is very small, so, if YouTube is fine with this format, there should be not need to convert it to JPG.

Worked perfectly. Can you also make a header for this thread from that image?

Keep it PNG if you want.

I also just made a Twitch account, and the recommended size for the profile banner is 900x480: http://www.twitch.tv/insomniacult/profile

The forum header worked beautifully, but the Twitch instructions were bullshit. Check it out:

Video Player Banner: http://www.twitch.tv/insomniacult (wait until it loads)
Profile Banner: http://www.twitch.tv/insomniacult/profile

In both cases click on the little arrows at the top left and top right of the screen to see the range of sizes in which the banner must work.

So I found a reddit thread that gives more correct sizes (though apparently there are no correct sizes as such -- it all depends on your and your viewers' resolution):

http://www.reddit.com/r/Twitch/comments ... f_missing/

I might try to stream my D:OS game tomorrow if you can get these two banners fixed in time, but it's no big deal if you don't. I am not even sure if my laptop and internet connection can handle running the game and streaming at the same time anyway.

Here is another helpful post from that link:

Brawli55 wrote:Here is another - Twitch Channel Profile:

infinite x 480 - the width of the channel profile image will change depending on the resolution of the person viewing it and if they have the two side panels open or closed.

I typically make an image that's 480x3000 that way there's at least something there for people with even the highest resolutions, but at that size it should be fine for most people who use 720p or 1080p resolutions.

Here's ours as an example.

It made the above image so all the important information is on the left so people viewing it at smaller resolutions will see it. Everything to the right of our logo & time slot is superfluous - you can easily just put a repeating design there.

I think 2560x480 will do -- no need to try to cater for people with 4K displays just yet.

That's for the profile page. For the static video screen a 1920x1080 banner will do, since that's the highest resolution I will be streaming at for the foreseeable future.

And yet another couple of things you could work on, when you have the time, is YouTube and Twitch headers for the respective threads in the Online forum...

I think they work great now, thanks. Haven't used the huge one yet. I'll try it with my 3 TVs when I get back home, and ask in the forum if anyone has a 4K display to tell me how it looks.

Thanks, they look great. I'll pick one tomorrow and upload it. I'll probably use the same in both threads because they are very similar, but there's no reason to try and make an alternative one. Valve isn't really giving you much to work with anyway. They are very low key with the graphics on their site.

I ended up using two:

http://culture.vg/forum/topic?t=43
http://culture.vg/forum/topic?t=4710

I think the pages look great, and also different enough, but in the second header there is a sort of vertical line near the right edge that I think you missed. Can you fix it?

Another thing that I just realized is that some people are using the alternate color schemes for the site and frontpage, and The Cult logo in black background won't look good on them. Could you make a version of that banner with transparent background?

Updated the frontpage logo. Looks awesome in all the styles now. Huge difference.

I don't really need the transparent header logo, though. The current one looks great in all the forum styles, but who knows, maybe it will come in handy in the future at some point.

The fixed Steam header is the wrong size :) I replaced it with another of your headers until you fix it.

I really like the third XBL header you made, but it turns out that we don't yet have an XBL thread in the Games forum where I can use it. I will make that thread soon though, because I have stuff to say about the service. I am keeping the current XBL header in the online forum because I like the orange color -- it's a nice contrast to all the dark-ish or monochrome headers that all other similar threads use. I know it's a little out of date, because it says "Xbox 360", but it's still the best-looking one we have, and that's a very visible thread. Maybe you could replace the Xbox 360 logo with an Xbox One one? Not sure if I am asking for too much there...

I used the PSN header in this thread:

http://culture.vg/forum/topic?t=3844

But again you need to fix that white vertical line on the right. You must be tired or something today man :)

How about using something like this to make the PSN header for the online forum?
