No excitement whatsoever here, just like with the second one and its exansion disk(s?) The dudes missed the essential point, which was NOT to keep revamping and refining the original game, but to take its mechanics and repeatedly adjust them to fit different themes and settings. Different as in NOT involving zombie apocalypses or whatever, just like Dead Rising itself did NOT include carjacking and crime sprees, which is why it's so much fun to play, independently of the GTA universe/formula, which it was clearly inspired by.

Bleh, whatever. The game's moved on and the Far Cry 2/3 dudes have picked up the ball and are currently running with it to exotic and interesting directions.

The OP was written before I played 2, which turned out to be pretty damn good, especially in co-op, so I am definitely looking forward to this now. Dead Rising is basically the new Biohazard, now that Biohazard has become Gears of War. I should write a review and explain this at some point.

If this has co-op too and you get a One in November, I'll play it with you, recoil.

Jordan Mallory wrote:To wit, Capcom's goal has been to make zombies the main threat in the game, rather than time pressure, and its doing so by removing the timer and adding auto-saves. The company does seem aware, however, that this is against the grain of the series' history, and as such a "Nightmare" mode will be available for those that want something a little more classic.

"No auto-saves; clock is ticking; we'll fail your ass if you don't make it to the next mission in time. It works just like old Dead Risings – so if you're a Dead Rising fan and you want a sadistic experience, you can totally do that."

Garwoofoo wrote:The deadlines were the very essence of Dead Rising 1 and 2. From your first panicked run through the mall, desperately saving anyone you could as more and more calls came in over the radio - to your subsequent attempts, gradually working out who you needed to prioritise and where supplies and shortcuts could be found - to your final, triumphant runthrough, nonchalantly escorting entire groups at a time and knowing exactly where you needed to be and how best to get there. It was one of those rare games where you got better at it not just because you'd increased some stats somehow or levelled up, but because you'd actually learned, step by step, what to do and where to go. You felt like an absolute master of all you surveyed by the time you'd finished.

If they've thrown the soul of the game away in order to appeal to the slack-jawed Call of Duty audience then they are utter, utter morons. A chucked-in Nightmare mode won't cut it because the whole game revolved around time pressure - take that out and it's no longer Dead Rising. It's a linear, autosaving zombie shooter that's browner than poo, and I couldn't be less interested.

That's a mighty fine review of all three games right there.

David Scammell wrote:Discussing the game's frame rate and performance with us earlier today, Leigh admitted that the team had "had many questions over the [game's] performance, which is understandable.

"This demo is actually several weeks old and we've made a lot of ground. We've got a little bit more ways to go before we release the game."

The demos of the game on display at both E3 and GamesCom have struggled to maintain a solid frame rate throughout their playthrough, appearing to slip well below 30FPS when high amounts of zombies appear on screen.

"We're targeting 30 frames a second," Leigh added, "and because we're based in Vancouver, and Seattle is where Microsoft is based, we're only three hours up the road so we constantly have tech people driving back and forth and they're helping us to make this a very smooth running game at launch."

We should be thankful. If they were making it in Japan it would have been 10FPS.

Unity, I want you to meet Dick. Dick, Unity. Dick drives a big-rig by trade, but in the midst of the zombie apocalypse of Dead Rising 3, he’ll be your coop partner. When you sign online this November with your Xbox One, you and a friend will be able to take control of Nick and Dick and paint the town red—quite literally.

Dead Rising 2 and Off the Record already taught us the joy of cooperative zombie slaying, but you can expect it to be more satisfying than ever in DR3. Since you’re untethered to your partner, you can split up and take on the sprawling world of Los Perdidos from end to end. Or stick close together and utilize special coop-centric vehicles.

Awesomely, the game will save whatever progress you achieve in coop, even when you revert back to single-player. This adds a unique nonlinear element to the game’s story progression. If you’re still in the middle of Chapter 1 but you join your friend’s game online and clear Chapter 3 together, Chapter 3 will become cleared on your own save file, meaning that once you clear Chapters 1 and 2, you’ll have the option of skipping 3.

basically animations and physics could be capped at 30fps and while they do give you the option to uncap it, it's a "at your own risk" sorta thing where you could assumedly break the game cause they're not reworking it for a higher framerate at all.

this is the actual quote:

'when we started the PC project we knew we werent gonna be able to guarantee anything above 30 frames per second'

'.. I love fiddling with PC games'

'what im saying is.. we're not gonna stop you from uncapping the framerate, but we can't guarantee the experience'

'we just really dont know what's gonna happen, you might see some weird stuff with physics, some weird stuff with zombies'

'I really dont believe you're losing anything by playing at 30 frames per second'

'if you want feel free to uncap it, but it's gonna be wild and crazy'

Dead Rising 3 is a game where you can dress up in a man-kini and slap zombies to death with a makeshift slapping device. However, if you require even more zaniness in your Xbox One gaming, Microsoft’s newly announced add-on content, Super Ultra Dead Rising 3’ Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX + α, is most certainly for you.

Luckily, not only was it announced today—it’s out right now.

Super Ultra Dead Rising 3' Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX + α is an all new, four-player coop mode for Dead Rising 3 on the Xbox One. Play as classic DR heroes—yep, Frank and Chuck are back—and cosplay as your favorite Capcom characters both classic and recent. The cast of characters glimpsed in this trailer is absolutely stunning. Characters from Breath of Fire, Power Stone, Rival Schools, Dino Crisis….It’s like somebody’s been scouring Ask Capcom.

Using these beloved characters and costumes, players will compete for the top score, unlocking new characters as they go, and fighting for survival in quite possibly the most Capcomian thing ever to happen.

The best thing about this announcement is that it’s not just a reveal—it’s a launch! Turn on your Xbox One and download this sucker right now! It’s only ten bucks, and we’ll be looking for people to play with during our E3 livestream! More info on our streaming schedule coming imminently!

It sounds like something retarded some American Capcom "community" retard thought up. Everything about it, from the mechanics to the "funny" name that refers to a joke that's a decade out of style, is retarded.

John Linneman wrote:Digital Foundry vs Dead Rising 3 on PC

There isn't a whole lot known about Dead Rising 3's Forge Engine but it certainly doesn't seem to be utilising PC hardware as efficiently as it should be. With rendering resolution taking the biggest toll on performance, even when using a high-end GPU it's a wonder Capcom Vancouver was able to pull this game off on Xbox One at all when PC hardware that's so much more powerful can't sustain 1080p60. We can't help but wonder whether this explains the poor performance experienced in many of the game's early Xbox One demonstrations.

It's disappointing that this new port was unable to solve many of the original version's problems. PC ports that fail to perform well are often labeled as unoptimised when, in reality, this often simply means that the developer has chosen to include high-end features that aren't always beneficial to average users but require very powerful hardware. Where Dead Rising 3 falters is in failing to offer additional high-end PC features while suffering from relatively poor performance. The fact that the highest possible settings only match the original console release despite this performance is very disappointing.

Is Dead Rising 3 unoptimised then? When you combine poor performance with limited PC features and issues such as awful mouse acceleration, it starts to feel that way, and our issues with the game repeatedly crashing on multiple machines certainly suggest that the title would have benefitted from more stringent QA. While it has the potential to offer an experience superior to the Xbox One version, the caveats in reaching that goal are numerous. If you have the hardware muscle or don't mind limiting yourself to 30fps, you can still enjoy a good experience on a mid-range enthusiast gaming PC, but those expecting to power through this at a constant 60fps might want to check their expectations at the door.
