This sounds like a crazy awesome deal, but before I pull the trigger I'd like to know for sure if I can download the US Plus games from a foreign IP. I tried googling around and there a couple of threads/news stories from several years back speculating that Sony might IP-lock the PlayStation Network, but there's nothing concrete and nothing recent. Does anyone have personal experience on this, or know someone else who does?

Downloading the games isn't blocked in any way, at least until now, so don't worry about that. The only thing you should know is that if you have a credit card with a European billing address the PSN store probably won't accept it. In that case the workaround would be to buy digital codes for PSN from online stores (here is a guide for Amazon: http://wololo.net/2013/06/27/how-to-pur ... in-the-us/ ). The same is more or less true if you want the EU Plus games, but live somewhere else (here is a guide on that: http://www.reddit.com/r/PlayStationPlus ... res_how_i/ ). There are even people that have both EU and US Plus, although to do that you need two different accounts and, in the case of Vita, two memory cards because memory cards are tied to an account.

Note that having an account outside of your region is a breach of the Terms of Service, which technically could mean trouble, but I don't know of anyone having any problems with that.

And here is an image showing the free games in the two different regions:

This has completely degenerated.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/11/ ... me-lineup/

The US Plus offers pretty much only "indie" games for this month. Binding of Isaac, Luftrausers, SteamWorld Dig, etc. Whereas for years they offered games like MGR, DmC, BioShock Infinite, and so on. But since no one is complaining, here we are.

The only reasonable-ish game for this month is Escape Plan. But in the past this sort of game used to be the side dish, not the main meal.

William D'Angelo wrote:Sony Gives Away 5 Free Days for PS+ Due to Outage

The PlayStation Network was down for several days last week due to a DDoS attack from hacking group Lizard Squad. Sony is giving back to PlayStation Plus members, by giving them a free five day extension to their membership. Sony will also be offering later this month a 10 percent discount code for total cart purchase in the PlayStation Store.

"Happy New Year!," said Sony Network Entertainment VP Eric Lempel. "Since access to PlayStation Network was impacted during the holidays, we wanted to show our appreciation for your patience by offering all PlayStation Plus members that had an active membership or free trial on December 25th a membership extension of five days. The extension will be automatically applied, so no action is necessary to receive the extension."
