Tomb Raider explores the origin story of Lara Croft and her ascent from a frightened young woman to a hardened survivor. Setting out to "make [her] mark", Lara travels on the ship Endurance commanded by Conrad Roth. It is hit by a violent storm and split in two. She and many other survivors are stranded on an isolated tropical island in the Dragon's Triangle. Lara has to find food and water to survive, fighting off the more dangerous animal inhabitants and trying to trace the other survivors. But a darker threat awaits as she is forced to harden herself against killing people in order to fight a group of malevolent mercenaries who seek to kill her and her companions.

Tomb Raider, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics’ upcoming reboot, has gone gold, the developer has announced.

“It’s been a long journey, and it feels like we’ve been on this one together,” said Crystal Dynamics boss Darrell Gallagher on Facebook. “Thank you for your continued enthusiasm and support since we first revealed our new vision for Tomb Raider to the world.

“I am very happy to let you know that we are into the final stretch of what has been an exciting and challenging adventure for the last few years. Tomb Raider has ‘gone gold’ and is now en route to manufacturing ahead of the game’s official release on March 5th, so there isn’t too long before it will be in your hands.

Tomb Raider is launching March 5th and developer Crystal Dynamics has release an 11-minute walkthrough video showing Lara engaging enemies with a range of firearms, using strategy to mess up enemies and being battered left right and centre by rocks and other hazards.
