PC Renown

Medieval rustlike. Not much else to say really. Or you could see it as an "arcade"-like LiF with much improved combat but probably no 4X aspect. Whichever you prefer.

I learned about if from Shadowfrax who seems to have been sponsored to promote the game to the Rust base:

Catapult raiding! Base building! Shields! | New Renown Update (Medieval survival)

Still watching the video, but paused it to make this thread.

24 days to go for their crowdfunding campaign (they seem to be Australian): https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/renown--2#/

I watched all of Shadowfrax's video plus part of their crowdfunding pitch video. It's a blatant Rust copy down to the build wheel, the building pieces themselves, etc. Nothing wrong with that, but almost everything is browner and greyer and kind of uglier, except the armor and weapons. Those are actually pretty cool and shiny and attractive, kind of like For Honor's—though of course still way below that insane standard. But the rest of the game seems depressing aesthetically, and not good depressing like LiF, just straight-up bad depressing. Then again Rust looked like that at first, so who knows, they might be able to spruce it up. And this is a vital aspect of a game that expects you to spend several days pretty much non-stop in its world, so they BETTER spruce it up.

The structures also look very uninspiring, nothing at all like LiF's hulking chunks of detailed wood and stone structures. Remember also that LiF's buildings were pre-designed, while this will be a fully customizable Rust clusterfuck, so expect commie block style castles and towns lol. How will they even reward you building towns if the mechanics are ripped off from Rust wholesale? There's almost no advantage to building towns in Rust, but that's okay because the post-apocalyptic theme fits this perfectly. A medieval theme obviously won't.

We'll see I guess. Still plenty of time for them to fix their stuff, probably. I might shoot them an email at some point to offer help.
