THQ Nordic is having a sale on Steam, and they're giving away the first Jagged Alliance, Insomnia's second 1994 GOTY runner-up: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2832 ... d_Edition/

It includes Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games. I didn't know that they added a multiplayer mode with it.

Titan Quest Anniversary Edition is also free as part of the same promotion: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4751 ... y_Edition/

Offers available until September 23.

Epic is giving a €10 off coupon to anyone who signs up to their newsletter or some shit. More details here: https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/n ... pic-coupon

I didn't even have to sign up to anything. They signed me up themselves, and then they told me I should use my coupon because it expires tomorrow. So I used it. I bought the third Samurai Shodown Season Pass, so now I have all of them: https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/a ... C&count=40

They are rather expensive at €20 each, but damn the game is worth it and I can't wait to play it at 150 4K inches.

Shenmue III is free on Epic for today only: https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/p/shenmue-3

There is another game free tomorrow, and apparently every day throughout the holidays.

All users also get a €10-off coupon, and I am thinking of buying something with it. Far Cry 6 would be €28.99 with the coupon and I'd snag it in a heartbeat if the difficulty was decent.

X-Morph: Defense Complete Edition free on GOG: https://www.gog.com/game/xmorph_defense ... te_edition

Apparently it's the precursor to The Riftbreaker: https://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=69471

Mischief Maker wrote:X-Morph Defense is free on GOG today and you should get it.

Don't be scared off by the tower defense tag, it's closer in gameplay to Herzog Zwei.

Not only is it the superior maze-building form of tower defense, but when bosses show up it's like a twin-stick Raiden game.

It's REALLY good. To the point that I'm not sure if I'm sold yet on whether its followup The Riftbreaker is a better game.

Jeneki wrote:X-Morph is awesome. So much destruction from beginning to end. I did a full play through without getting sidetracked to other games, which is always a good sign.

And don't forget Epic has free games every day throughout the holidays.

This month's Humble Choice is outstanding. $10 for all this: https://www.humblebundle.com/membership

Mass Effect Legendary Edition I already wanted, and by itself is worth 5x the price. Desperados III and Man of Medan are solid full-price games, while Red Solstice 2 [ > ] is 8-player real-time XCOM that we should try at some point. If you're interested in even one of these games, you should get it.

Humble are doing a charity promotion for Ukraine and it is fantastic value if you don't already own most of the games included.

I picked it up mostly for Satisfactory but am loving Slay the Spire.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is only $1 for a three-month subscription—really one month for $1, then you get two months afterwards for free: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/store/ ... q7ttc0khs0

And best of all, the deal is even open to prior subscribers. I just signed up again successfully after having canceled my subscription over a year ago. This offer started about a week ago and there's no indication how long it will last, so grab it before it disappears.

Chris Roberts' old games are all on sale on GOG right now. I bought them all for basically 10 dollars. I already had the original Privateer, that's why you don't see it above, but you can get it here for another couple of dollars: https://www.gog.com/en/game/wing_commander_privateer

I've finished WC1, 2 and 3, plus Strike Commander, so about half of his games, all of them on release. I didn't play beyond those because at that point I started college, plus new genres were taking up my time, but I am interested in finishing at least WC4+5, and trying out the Privateers. The second Privateer is especially notable for having BOTH an Elite-style trading system AND a fully-acted plot with good actors.

So if you wanted to see where Star Citizen is coming from and what Squadron 42 will be like, you could try these games during lulls in Star Citizen updates. Note you NEED a flight stick to finish them, I never played any of them without one, and you'll need to figure out good scanline settings with ReShade [ > ] to make them look good on modern displays.

They don't take much time to finish either. Maybe the Privateers take longer, but the Wing Commanders and Strike Commander take like maybe two days of full-time playing each, and every moment is gripping. It's like you're in a movie. Read more in my two-part essay on WC:

The Epic Coupon is back with a 25% discount of everything that's in your cart: https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/coupons/holiday-sale

So you could get something as new as Midnight Suns for 25% off.

In addition, huge holiday sales have started: https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/sales ... liday-sale

Gotham Knights for example has been discounted by 50%, and then you can get 25% off extra with the coupon. You can get Satisfactory for €17.99, plus 25%. And you might want to get that if you don't already have it, as we'll be playing it next year sometime after we're done with this Factorio run, and probably before we start a new run with the upcoming expansion.

And finally, it looks like there'll be a free game every day instead of every week, during the holidays, as in years past. Next one is in 22 hours.

I've been eyeing these two for months in various sales, and I finally grabbed them at this price. Can't beat €25 for the both of them. On Steam it's the same prices but without the -25% coupon, so on Epic you're saving €8.25.

I will stream and review both this holiday season. I do not expect to like them much. I'll probably like Days Gone more than the dumb-looking one. Will I like either enough to play more than a session?

The world is awaiting with bated breath.

F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch free on Epic for the next 24 hours: https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/fis ... adow-torch

Stupid character design as usual in a Chinese game, but apart from that, it's a high-def high-fidelity side-view action game that's worth a look.
