We developed a new strategy for dropping from the plane. The plane actually flies a different route across the map each game and this has quite a big effect on the entire match and where you want to drop. First of all, you need to identify some of the "major" drop locations -- places with a lot of loot that will attract a lot of players. For example, these are any of the towns, the school, the airfield, the power station. Anything that looks cool from the air really, with a couple of exceptions. Then, at the beginning of each match, you need to choose one of these locations that's as far as possible from where the plane will fly that's still reachable by parachute. Failing that, you want to choose a "medium" loot location (any moderate cluster of buildings) that's medium-far from where the plane will pass. If you choose a major drop that's too close to the plane's flight path you'll be dropping straight into a bloodbath. Here even if we were amazing players it's just a lottery of who manages to get to a gun first. So one player is in charge of checking the plane's flight path, choosing an appropriate drop, putting a pin in it, then calling a countdown and telling everyone when to drop, while also mentioning e.g. "we're going to the school" if he feels like it. Everyone else just has to press F at the right time and point themselves at the pin.

Some examples of game beginnings from just now:

1. We drop on the school which was just out of parachute range, and no one drops with us. Perfect.

2. We drop on Pochinki, the big town in the middle, and another squad drops on the other side of town. The town is dense enough that we can gear up without running into them, then once ready we move up and murder them together.

3. We drop on this fort on a hill alongside another squad. The area is so open that we'd be forced into combat straight away and are very likely to take losses even if we did end up winning overall. We scatter into the wilderness and then meet up with a vehicle, gearing up for the midgame by driving between small clusters of buildings.

Looking at the plane's flight path can also be used to tell you during the early game which locations are likely to have players in, and which will definitely have none in because they're out of parachute range. So, if we end up in a situation like 3 again where we fuck up a drop but have a vehicle then we can drive to one of the empty spots and loot there with impunity.

Awesome advice Robo.

Here are a couple of things to think about each game:

1. Try to have a plan on where to go before the circle starts collapsing. Good locations would be hillside/buildings. Ideally, this would be the player that's geared out so he doesn't have to focus on loot.

2. If you get there early, I like driving laterally around the edge to scope out any potential stragglers. Or you can find buildings to loot. Up to you.

3. Even if you fuck up and you are behind the blue, you can still get the drop on unsuspecting players because they are usually not watching their back. Something to look forward to.
