I am saving these here for posterity.

The first issue of his magazine is out. Apparently it has cool rules for mounted combat: https://twitter.com/revjbryant/status/1 ... 2595326977

It's worth pointing out that Paizo began by making Dragon and Dungeon magazines for Wizards. That's where they premiered their "Adventure Paths". And eventually, since these became popular, it made sense for them to release their "own" role-playing system. So the question is, does Colville's mag feature adventures too? Because if it does, and they become as popular as Paizo's, and since he's ALREADY making rulebooks, it's a fair bet he'll make his "own" rule system too eventually. However, I seriously doubt this magazine's adventures, if it even has any, will be anywhere near as good as Paizo's, and moreover I seriously doubt they'll go anywhere near matching the scale of Paizo's "Adventure Paths". I can tell by Colville's contempt for Pathfinder that he's not very good at making adventures (otherwise he would have picked up some of Paizo's and realized they're genius), so he's not the man for the job. I just don't see how any of his efforts can lead to anything near as revolutionary as all of Paizo's innovations. It's 2021 and he still hasn't figured out that 5E is a much worse game than PF1, 3.5E, and probably even PF2 and 3E. Maybe even 2E?

I mean look at his mag: https://shop.mcdmproductions.com/collec ... dia-issue1

In one of his videos he says he wanted the cover to look like the old Dragon covers. And I was like, cool deal bro. And now his cover looks like it came from some "indie" game on Steam. I can probably draw better than that, and I can't draw for shit.

For reference:

If we give the latter 5/5, the Arcadia one should get, what? 2/5? At best?

And why did he name the mag from the Japanese arcade game mag??

Anyway, I'll take a look inside once the Trove hosts a copy. I am sure there'll be some decent content in there. His projects are overall interesting and noteworthy, but it seems he lacks the taste for both aesthetic and mechanical greatness, so he turns out above mediocre stuff that you need to just pick stuff from very selectively, instead of adopting anything wholesale. And that's why he'll never create a complete, comprehensive product like Paizo or even Wizards do.

Yep, it has an 11-page adventure. Moreover it's good to see that it's given prominence, as it's the first feature after the editorial. So far so good.

I read it. The issue is up on the Trove. It's a decent enough little adventure, barely longer than an encounter. The maps, handouts and creature art are of solid quality. I would definitely put this adventure on the map in my world. Of course the stats are in 5E, so I would put it in someplace like the Forgotten Realms or Greyhawk.

I'll be reading the rest of the issue and keeping an eye on the mag. None of the content on the first issue is from Colville himself, and he says he has a ton of people submitting content to him.

P.S. The adventure's one-line description in the magazine contents basically spoils everything, so I advise players to avoid the mag like hell and just wait for me to give them material they can use. I'll be reading every issue.
