I just realized why he made that joke about having to pay someone to win an "indie" award.

This is an independent studio that made a game on Ubisoft's level, and of course all the "indie" awards refused to acknowledge its existence because it made a mockery of everyone else's games. So of course the dude would be butthurt about it. He should have won EVERY SINGLE "INDIE" AWARD in the entire seven-year development history of the game, and instead he was probably not even allowed to compete because the entire purpose of "indie" awards is to exclude competition from real developers like him.
