The Good:
The game feels more alive (cars driving around, civilians talk to each other etc).
Special enemies like bulldozers feel terrifying again like in payday the heist.
Stealth got improved in every way, and you don't fail instantly if you get spotted.
Since there is no detections level any more you can always attempt stealth and go loud if it fails with no issue.
Lock picking feels more interactive.
You can interact with objects in casing mode and even carry bags.
You can close doors!
Graphics and weapon sounds are nice.
Finally a clear straight narrative!
The Bad:
You need Nebula to play!
Always online, you CAN'T play offline!
Can't pause in solo + you have to QUE for a solo game!
You can LAG in a SOLO game!
No lobby browser.
The menu feels like it got made with a controller in mind and feels terrible to navigate.
No back to menu with your random group after you finish a heist.
Weapon customization feels pointless.
Weapon stats are shown in bars with no numbers.
You cannot filter primary & secondary weapons (game shows you both in the same buy menu).
Separate accuracy for ads and hip fire.
Assault Rifles and SMGs feel weak.
Melee bash does no damage or even stun.
No melee weapons.
No laser.
No safe house.
Crosshair customization is very limited (why no dot?).
You can't press interact to mark stuff or shout at civilians, instead you use the ping system which also feels clunky.
Slide feels annoying to use and you can't turn it off (you can accordantly slide off buildings and die when you just tried to crouch behind cover).
Ammo pickup range is way too small with no outlines.
Cutting glass with mouse is way too slow and painful.
You only get infamy LVL XP by doing challenges (wtf).
The skill system plays around having buffs active all the time and most of the skills are useless.
Game has potential but needs lots of fixing, feels more like an early access game and a straight downgrade to Payday 2 at the moment.
Payday 2 was crap, so if it's a downgrade
to that... I don't see how it's playable at all, let alone a "rough diamond" as he said in his first line. Maybe he meant rough turd.
All the reviews up right now seem written by people who like the series, many of them having played the last game for a fucking DECADE lol (I couldn't even last one full session and just quit in disgust when we played
PD2).
But anyway, have another bullet-point review by a fan, just so we can say we covered the game here. Most of the fanbase is giving the game a thumbs-down for what that's worth.
And btw it's indicative of the IQ level of the fanbase that no one seems able to write a proper review. It's all either one-liners or just stupid lists, and even the hierarchy of their points is stupid.

Almost no customisation
Not so good AI
No quick play
No single/auto fire
No safe house
No Crime Net
No voice chat
No offline game
No private lobby
No chat in the lobby
No detection risks
No melee weapons
No body bags
No option to pause the game
No option to change the mask in the lobby
No indicator how much cash did we already take
No option to remove mask after it is on
No possibility get into the back of the van
No possibility to stay in the same lobby with people I just played with
No prepgame phase
No option to mute the "mission explanation"
No option to "unready"
Only 8 missions
In some ways had PayDay 2 better graphics than PayDay 3
Throw grenade with "G" key (I know that almost every other game has G as a Grenade, but almost all of us who played PD2, we are used to "G"=drop bag)
Every single gun "upgrade" is actually downgrade in some way
When trading hostages for resources, it means ONLY for health??
Very few masks
All in all, PayDay 2 is better in almost every aspect. I expected so much more from this, but this seems like a beta version. Hopefully in the future, I'll rewrite this review... when the game will be actually at least half as good as the predecessor. Of course it's hard to compare new game and a game with 10 years of updates, but this game is bare bone. So I wouldn't buy it again for 40$, maybe later when it's improved or when on it's sale. There is no real motivation to have a lot of money. I have more money than how much I level up to unlock weapons/masks/skins. If there would be at least safe house to be able to look on how much money I currently have (as was in PayDay 2). So final conclusion: it's fun, but huge disappointment for me. I would rather wait for another year in development than this.
