Citizens For Pyro - Outlaws Vs Decent People

New details on the second solar system, Pyro, that's coming early next year. And I've made an entire thread dedicated to this system.

LOTS of footage of the new system in this video! Looks great!

  • 6 planets as opposed to Stanton's 4
  • Lawless wasteland
  • Planets in the center extremely hot, and planets on the outside extremely cold
  • Strong solar flares at random
  • Stronghold for pirates, fugitives, terrorists
  • Black markets
  • XenoThreat: anti-corporate, anti-alien terrorist group (so they are against the four corporations owning the Stanton system we're in, and they frequently raid Stanton)
  • Citizens for Pyro: concerned citizens' group with a plan to bring order to the system
  • Looks like you can play pool in bars

Although not mentioned in this video, two more bits of info I have seen elsewhere are that the system is about 1.5x the size of Stanton, and that there are three factions fighting between themselves and you can join any of them or none. Not sure which one is the third, as this video mentions only two.

The video has a lot more info than I listed, including an entire novella's worth of text that some woman reads. There's also an important NPC mentioned.

These are the best videos to watch if you're interested in the second solar system, Pyro, coming early next year.

First off, my man Space Tomato will give you a very quick overview of both visuals and technical stuff. It's just 13.5 mins, and it shows briefly many planets and stations and it all looks gorgeous.

Space Tomato wrote:Star Citizen 4.0 will be the first version change in 5 years, and with it comes some game-changing technologies and a massive expansion to the play space and opportunities. This video will give you a rundown on why this update is such a big deal, and when you might expect it.

Then, if you want to see the planet Pyro III in some detail, through a full playthrough showcasing new stealth elements and the ability to shoot everyone, including shopkeepers in this lawless system, ObsidianAnt has you covered in just under 12 minutes.

ObsidianAnt wrote:This is the first look at Star Citizen's new planet of Pyro 3, within the Pyro system. The latest CitizenCon demonstrated a mission, which highlighted the new planet, the new outposts as well as some variations on gameplay.

I consider the above two videos must-watch if you're interested in games at all, let alone Star Citizen.

But if you want more, there's more.

The full developer playthrough of the Pyro III settlement that the above video takes its material from takes 35 minutes, and is here:

And finally, an official 10-minute video detailing some of the fundamental lore of the Pyro system:

Star Citizen wrote:In our 17th episode, Archivist Cherie Heiberg from the CIG Lore Team explores the Pyro System.

Now if you combine all the above with the newer Pyro details I posted earlier in the thread, what it boils down to is that Star Citizen Alpha 4.0 is a 2023 GOTY candidate (though Menyr [ > ] will likely win that one, so SCA4 will probably end up as first runner-up), and I'll be putting in on the GOTY list [ > ] next time I update it. Note that Star Citizen Alpha 3.0 will take the 2015 GOTY spot from Dying Light, so that would be the first time that the same game has taken two spots in the GOTY feature. And of course the game is also on the Game of the Decade [ > ] and Best Game Ever [ > ] lists.

A 15-minute summary of all info we have on Pyro. Very well-made video, and it will set you up nicely for the massive info dump we expect on the system in two weeks in CitizenCon.

Just WOW. Watching this dev video is more fun than 99% of the games on the market. I wish I could see it in 4K. There's a 4K option but my TV is 1080p. I will rewatch it on 4K soon.

Where to begin?

If you can only watch a few seconds, skip to 19:45. That's the coolest-looking planet in all of gaming.

If you have a few more minutes to spare, skip to 26:15 and watch till the end, it's a flyover of many of the locations discussed in depth earlier in the video and it's absolutely stunning.

But better yet is to just watch the whole thing. It's half an hour, and it's the cutting-edge of gaming planetary tech. You'll see lots of things you won't see on the flyover, and the distractingly handsome developer will explain lots of cool details to you on how they build this crazy stuff.

Two things stood out to me above all. The improvement in the water tech. It's still not Atlas or Sea of Thieves, but it's getting there, and I was particularly struck by the floating sea weed. Can't wait for swimming to go in, I'd love to swim there.

They show Pyro I, II, III, IV and VI. Not V. V is the gas giant, so I suppose there's not a terrible lot to show about it. But they did show a moon of V's. All moons in this system orbit V.

And finally I loved that when he explained the improvements to trees he said that they plan to go back to Stanton and improve the trees in Hurston and microTech. Such attention to detail. Much cutting edge. Wow.
