We need to start talking cap ships, because the first capital warship, the Polaris, is coming in the game less than 12 months from now. Almost certainly it will be in the game for next year's IAE, if not earlier at CitCon. Moreover, Squadron 42 is expected around that time too and CR said at CitCon that they're bringing all versions of the Idris in SC at the same time. So that's TWO capital warships 12 months or sooner from now! And all we have right now is Adjudicator's one Idris. Which isn't bad, mind you, but obviously we need more.

So first order of business for me was to buy the Perseus to Polaris Warbond CCU that's available only today. It's $25 but it has a $75 value, so that's $50 saved. That's a significant saving considering the price of the ship is currently $750. And keep in mind that prices increase at release. It could well end up close to $1,000 by the time it's out, but now I've locked in the current price so I don't care, and I did it with only $25 up front. By chaining a bunch more Warbond CCUs I've been hoarding and will keep accumulating, I should be able to get it at about $500 come the summer. Which is a steal considering what this thing can do.

Image

The new armor model that's coming in the game by the way will mean that large ships are basically invulnerable to small fighter fire. Big ships already pack a punch in the game, but by next year the only way to defeat a big ship will be another big ship, or a dedicated bomber ship like the Retaliator. So we need more big ships.

The thing can take a Scorpius, the heaviest dual-seat fighter in the game. It's still in greybox, so expect a shitton more detail. In the video you can see it releasing the Scorpius as it fires four giant torpedoes that down an Idris.

Capital ships will be THE ships to bring to Pyro. We'll be able to live off them even without a base. But base-building also goes in the game within 12 months. At least the T0 implementation. And how do you defend a base in lawless Pyro? With cap ships.

So let's talk cap ships. If you have any plans to buy one, let us know here so we can coordinate our acquisitions. I haven't talked about the Idris yet, but that's an even bigger deal than the Polaris, and it costs twice lol. That has several versions including a military one that's very hard to get, or maybe even impossible now? I think Adjudicator has the gimped P (Peacekeeping) version. And moreover you can only buy an Idris twice a year, and even then only if you manage to win the F5 Wars (about which I am compiling sources for a ca$hmoney thread post soon). At least the Polaris isn't hull-limited and you can buy as many as you want, again only twice a year or so, but at least you don't have to fight the entire whale playerbase for one of them.

P.S. The exterior of the Idris has been in the game for a long time because you fight it in several missions, but just a couple of days ago the INTERIOR also went in, in the 3.22 PTU. Things are heating up in the verse!

P.P.S. The Hammerhead isn't a cap ship, it's just a giant gunship. Glad we have several of them, but it doesn't count as a cap ship and can't play that role in Pyro etc. The 890J IS a cap ship, but it's a leisure craft. Totally unsuitable for combat ops. I WILL buy one as soon as I can afford it, but the warships take precedence, so I am not buying it until I have both cap warships coming out next year. And you must win the F5 Wars to get this too btw. But we can buy it in-game, and already have one in fact, so it's definitely not a priority, and in fact it's a cool credit sink for us. I wonder if/how you'll be able to buy the cap warships in the game once they go in. I think I've heard you need maxed reputation with the UEE, and tons of credits. Not to mention operating costs lol.

P.P.P.S. The other major cap ship to start thinking about is the Pioneer. That's the base-building ship, and it's the only way to build XL base structures. But that's 2 years away at least. Still, you need to win the F5 Wars for it, so the earlier we start thinking about it, the better.

P.P.P.P.S. Any hull-limited ship that therefore requires you to win the F5 Wars cannot be CCUed to, or gifted. So you can't even get it from the grey market. The only way to avoid the F5 Wars and get these ships on demand (i.e. without having to wait for IAE or Invictus) is to buy one of the whale packs on the Concierge store. So that's something to look into for those who can afford it. I can't afford it for now unfortunately, and for the foreseeable future, so F5 Wars it is for me, and my first try will be in the summer at Invictus, crypto gods willing.

Another way to grab cap ships if we need one or more urgently at some point and none of us can afford them is to... simply melt our fleets and put the credits in a cap ship. I think we must be at $20,000-$25,000 as a group by this point, so that amounts to a dozen or more cap ships. The only problem is that you still have to play the F5 Wars, and the credits version of the cap ships go much faster than the Warbond versions. But you can also buy a whale pack if you have enough credits. Something to think about, if we end up needing this option.

An update with some findings I've made over the last few weeks on capital ship acquisition.

It turns out that the F5 Wars are just for the poors. The F5 Wars are like the liberal Aryans who go to brown regions to distribute food. They open up the back of the truck and lob out some loaves, and the browns kill themselves over who will grab them. Meanwhile in Aryan regions people just go to the supermarkets or restaurants, some of which are open 24/7.

Same with CIG's capital ship sales. They open up a few slots for a few hours over the year with a few hundred available ships to drum up hype, and the poors stay up all night and employ complex procedures to fight the other poors and secure a ship. Meanwhile the wealthy and the comfortable go to the Game Packages page, scroll all the way down, and pick a package with the capital ship(s) of their choice, available 24/7/365: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/stor ... e-packages

For example, the $6,400 Dominus Pack that includes an Idris-P (the civilian model) among a couple dozen other ships: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pled ... ck-Digital

Image

Or the $15,000 Praetorian Pack that includes an Idris-M (the exact same military version used in Squadron 42), 890J, Polaris, Pioneer, Prowler, Carrack, Hammerhead, Reclaimer, Merchantman, Hull C and dozens more: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pled ... ck-Digital

Image

If $6,400 sounds like a lot of money, keep in mind at least THREE of our people have already hit it. Which means they could melt their entire fleets and put the credits in this package, getting an Idris with a few clicks any hour of the day or night. Sure they would lose some smaller ships, but they can rebuy them in the game with aUEC. Do keep in mind though that any CCU discounts or grey market markups will be lost in the process. But plenty of people don't bother with the CCU game at all, and anyway, if you want a capital ship, you're going to do what you have to do to get it. Losing your 30% discount on some random fighters or whatever is a small price to pay for having basically an entire FP4X-level base that can move across the galaxy and looks cooler than even movie ships.

So one strategy that a bunch of poorfags COULD employ if they HAD any brains is to GIFT ALL THEIR SHIPS to ONE new account to which they all have access, then MELT all those ships and buy a pack with capital ships that they can all use. So they would have that fleet available no matter which of them were online. But all this requires intelligence, trust, planning, etc. that poorfags of course lack. Which is why they're poor. As for us, we don't need this because we aren't poor. I am just sayin' tho, if any poors are reading this, and if they somehow have enough taste to play this game despite being poors. And if they have friends who play it, or friends at all. They COULD use this strategy to pool together their meagre resources and acquire a capital fleet.

That said, I have saved some extensive posts on the F5 Wars from Reddit and Spectrum, and will be posting them in the Real Ca$hmoney thread in the run-up to Invictus Launch Week (ILW) at the end of May.

And finally, here's an update on how the Cult Capital Fleet is currently looking.

Idris: Adjudicator has a -P and I will be getting at least a -P if not better sometime before the Idris is released

Polaris: ysignal, shubn and I have pledged to buy one each

Pioneer: shubn has pledged to buy one

It's looking really good then! 2 Idrises, 3 Polarises and 1 Pioneer is no mean fleet! The tougher task will be crewing them, and we do have enough people to fully crew ONE of them at a time. So the challenge is to manage to crew 2 at a time, and then more.

As for some tactics talk, if I could fly 2 of them, I'd pick an Idris and a Polaris, because they're each other's counter. And I would put 3 Gladiuses in the Idris and 1 Scorpius in the Polaris, so that we could unleash a small fighter squadron with 3 light and 1 heavy fighter when needed.

That's all I have for now, the next bit of info I need to research is precisely what the differences are between Idris-P, -K, and -M. I still haven't figured this out.

This video has been making waves recently because it's the coolest org trailer yet. I am putting it here because it depicts multi-capital ship combat where they crash a Javelin into a Bengal lol (which is the exact tactic an org used against CIG in the recent Capture the Idris event only there they were crashing Auroras into Idrises until CIG buffed the Idris in response). This is the future of game combat, and it's cooler than any movie combat you've ever seen. And I think it's motivational for us while building our capital fleet and trying to crew it to have this video in this thread.

And no, there's no black Gladius, they just made it.

ysignal now has his Polaris, and shubn and I have our CCU chains ready to go for IAE. So now my sights are set on the Idris. Specifically the Idris-M, since Adjudicator already has a -P. Still don't know of a cheaper way to acquire it than the $15,000 pack. Unless I buy a secondhand account with one... That might be a viable alternative. However, all such accounts on the Impound are currently sold out: https://theimpound.com/collections/buy-idris?q=idris

They did have an Idris-M Original Concept for sale but it was $4k, and it's sold out too: https://theimpound.com/collections/buy- ... oncept-lti

Image

The only Idris-related item they have in stock currently is an "Idris P After Market Kit" for $300 that might be of interest to Adjudicator: https://theimpound.com/collections/buy- ... et-kit-lti

Image

However, you'll probably be able to buy it on the official store from CIG when the Idris launches, and also in the game, probably for cheaper than $300. So maybe not a good buy right now. I am also not sure if this is the same kit that turns the Idris into a -K. Still don't understand how this works. All I know is that an Idris without the iconic railgun is not really an Idris.

If my crypto portfolio pulls at least a 4x from here before IAE, I am buying the $15k pack that will also give me a Pioneer and 890J, among other stuff. Otherwise we'll just have to make do with Adjudicator's -P and our 3x Polarises, which isn't a bad fleet at all tbh.

I have already bought the Idris upgrade kit during the final days of IAE 2953 (December last year). I did not report that as that pledge was not a flyable ship.

This kit is available for purchase during IAE or ILW. If your account already owns any kind of Idris pledge, you can pledge for the kit at any other time as well.

I note that many of these high-end Concierge backer packages contain one or more Hornet Mk I and/or its variants. It is speculated that since these are announced to be removed from the pledge store and in-game stores post ILW 2954, it could be assumed that many of these high-value packs will be removed and/or revised: https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/co ... nt/l5zxli8

Duncan_Id wrote:Better get that verse, dominus, provectus, Praetorian, escort or inceptor packages now, nobody knows for sure what will happen to them, and besides the verse they are non grey marketable (over 1k).

I still have hope they remain, like the provectus has the yellowjacket dragonfly, but nobody knows for sure, I've been trying to know since they said they were going to retire the mk1

If they remove packs with hornets almost half of concierge packages will be gone (but at least it will save me a ton of cash, the CCU game is way cheaper than any of those packs anyway, and no useless ships)...

There is a possibility that the US$15,000 pack (PRAETORIAN PACK - DIGITAL), when revised post-ILW 2954, will not only have the Mk I Hornets replaced with Mk IIs, but the Idris-M could be altered to an Idris-P during the revision.

The other possibility is that the new version of the pack will still have the Idris-M, but its price will increase to reflect the increased value of the revised ships in the package.

IAE 2954 – Final Waves of Stock-Limited Ships

Unread postby icycalm » 02 Dec 2024 23:21

Now that we finally have a Pioneer, what's next?

I would like a second Pioneer, and a second Idris. In the long run I'd like to have at least one of each for every solar system, and with Pyro coming this month and Nyx likely next year, we could use at least an extra one of each.

As luck would have it, they are selling a few extra capital ships in the closing days of IAE this year, so if anyone was thinking about grabbing something, here's your chance: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spec ... ited-ships

The Warbond (meaning new cash) versions usually last for hours, at least the last two waves according to shubn, so you probably won't have to play the F5 Wars to get what you want.

Use Cult Capital Fleet Thread

Unread postby icycalm » 03 Dec 2024 16:54

When buying a capital ship from now on—whether in or out of game—report it in THIS thread—the Cult Capital Fleet thread—not the Cult Fleet thread.

These purchases are too important to let them drown in the poorfag thread, so let's give them the focus they richly—emphasis on rich—deserve.

P.S. Capital isn't the same as hull-limited or stock-limited. If you are confused, just ask, and if you make a mistaken post, no worries, I can just move it around.

We haven't talked much about the 890J in this thread, and that's an omission because it IS a capital ship, and in fact the first that was added to the game. And it's the only one of the current/coming soon capitals that we don't yet cash-own... And now that I've finally added it to the Spec (for the Pirate Supreme Commander [ > ]), I thought it was worth a mention in this thread so it doesn't get completely forgotten in the rush to grab Polarises, Pioneers and Idrises.

Stock-Limited Pioneer Sale

Unread postby icycalm » 29 Mar 2025 11:27

The Pioneer has been in production since a couple of weeks after last CitCon, and it's expected about a year to year-and-a-half after it, so it might be coming less than a year from now. And base-building is definitely coming before the end of the year. Also the third system, Nyx, is coming before the end of the year. So a second Pioneer could come in handy when we're stretched over three systems. Far from necessary, since we'll have shubn's, but handy.

Note also that the Pioneer will be a complete mobile base, able to even mine materials from the ground wherever it touches down through its legs. Just sayin'. It'll be the ultimate Cult Contractor ship.

State of Cult Capital Fleet March 2025

Unread postby icycalm » 30 Mar 2025 18:20

So we got a second Pioneer. What's next?

We don't really NEED anything more at this point. We have 3 Polarises, 2 Pioneers, and 1 Idris. That's more than enough for the number of players we have.

HOWEVAR.

Keep in mind that these ships won't be available 24/7. The owner has to be online for a ship to be available. So from this perspective... we could use a second Idris, since we only have one.

Moreover, even if the owner is online, we might get the ship blown up in the first ten minutes of a weekend session, and these ships take hours to reclaim. Maybe over a day for the Idris. So even with the owner online, your weekend plan might be ruined. So again, a second Idris would be useful. Not to mention how cool it would be if we manage to crew both at the same time. And the ship might be getting released this Invictus, in about 4-6 weeks. They recently completed work on a couple of its rooms that weren't finished before (medbay and missile room or something), so there are rumors they might finally give it to us. All hell will break loose in the game if they put it in.

That said, it's quite a bit more expensive than the Polaris and Pioneer. It's $1,300 cash/$1,500 credit. You can almost get two of the others with this much. But it has a fucking theater inside... And a gun range out of RoboCop (it's literally out of RoboCop). And the dropship hatch at the bottom out of Aliens (the main designer is a huge '80s movies fan).

So if someone feels like buying a cap ship in the future and can afford an Idris, that would be number 1 on our wishlist.

What would be number 2?

An 890J. We still don't have one of these as pledge, but we can get one in the game fairly easily so I am not stressed. That said, it'd be nice to have it from day 1 of every wipe, and at $890 cash/$950 credit it's quite a bit cheaper than an Idris. Note also btw that if/when someone gets an Idris, they might also want to buy its weapons upgrade kit for $300 that Adjudicator already has for his, so $1,600 cash/$1,800 credit if you want the best Idris money can buy (aside from the near-impossible to get military Idris-M), and that now IS the same more or less as Polaris + Pioneer. I believe it's worth every dollar though and I would much rather have a 2nd Idris than a 4th Polaris + 3rd Pioneer.

Ultimately, since cap ships cost so much, people should just buy what they want to buy. If you want to get us a 4th Polaris, go for it. I am just saying, for people who don't have a particular preference, this is the priority order for us as I see it:

1. Idris-P (ideally with the upgrade kit, but it's not important to get it right away)
2. 890 Jump

What would be next if we had both of these?

You could get a Kraken because they have said they're planning to build up to it in the next couple years or so. And beyond that a Javelin. But I am not thinking so far ahead, and if someone posted right now that they got a Kraken or a Javelin I wouldn't really feel a lot of hype about it. They're just too far off to care. That said, those WOULD get you an Idris LOANER when the Idris is released, so I actually WOULD get hyped if you got one of them. You would be solving our short- and medium-term Idris stock issues, PLUS future-proofing us several years ahead.

The ultimate move however, if you check your account total spent and it's in the $15,000 range, is to just melt everything and use the credit to get us an Idris-M via the Praetorian Pack.

Package - Praetorian Pack - Digital $15,000.00 USD
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/en/p ... ck-Digital

This is the only way to get the military version of the Idris, AND it includes a Polaris, Pioneer and 890J. It also includes a ton of other unreleased ships like the Orion and Merchantman, plus you get all the posters and paints that were only given out with the original concept sales of all these vehicles. You even get the land claims that were removed from new sales of the Pioneer. The only thing you lose is any CCU discounts you might have gotten on your current ships. Oh, and if you have an F8C or F7A, don't melt those. Those are hard to get, especially the F7A.

Anyway, I felt like giving a full analysis of our capital fleet status and future possibilities, so here it is. If at any time in the future you feel like buying a cap ship, come here and read this so you know what I think, but feel free to ignore everything and just buy what you want to buy.

It's crazy to think that before the end of the year we may have a sprawling base on some planet somewhere with an Idris, Polaris, Pioneer and 890J parked outside. I won't even bother playing the game at that point, I'll just put out a lawn chair and sit outside and stare at all our stuff for hours every day.

Idris Incoming???

Gromington wrote:Idris Tour Sign | Is this the damn proof you want you heathens?

Let the hype train derail. Not even I can do anything against that now.

There's been rampant speculation over the last few weeks on whether the Idris will finally be released this Invictus, meaning next week. Tons of threads with detailed breakdowns of the interpretation of the signs by CIG on whether it is coming or not coming. I had saved some of them to post here, but events have overtaken me and now it seems like a done deal. So the question is: is anyone here buying one?

If you are planning on snagging one, let me know, because otherwise I might melt half my fleet to try and get one myself. In the past I never considered this option because I never buy ships with credit because you can't get LTI this way. But I recently realized that if the ship costs $1,000 or more, you get LTI no matter what, even if you buy with store credit. So my fleet is worth about $3,500, so if I melt about half I can get one! Problem is, they deliberately put very few for sale with credit to motivate people to buy with cash, and if it's really coming next week the demand will be insane, and I am sure I won't succeed in the F5 Wars. So I'll end up melting half my fleet only to not get an Idris in the end anyway. Of course they'll keep putting it on sale two-three times a year at least, so if I keep trying I'll eventually get one. But in the meantime I won't have access to half my fleet. So I am not sure what to do.

But if you're buying with cash, you shouldn't have much of a problem in snagging one. They sell many more of those.

Anyway, a simple solution to always have Adjudicator's Idris available is to simply... get Adjudicator's login details. We can just share them with a subgroup that has put in a lot of money, and we can give Adjudicator our logins in return. It can be an opt-in thing, and even if just one or two people opt in, that would still almost guarantee we have his Idris available most of the time.

Of course, if we buy a second Idris... we'll have two Idrises lol, so we might be able to fly them at the same time.

ANYway, whatever happens it's not a HUGE deal. I just wanted to make this post to let everyone know what's going on. We'll have so much fun with Adjudicator's Idris if it's really coming next week! Everyone who has tried it says it totally changes the game.

Just inform me here of your Idris-related plans, if you have any. And pray with me, and with the entire community, that it's really coming.

I just checked my pledge amounts across my account and my CULTCLONES (2, 6, 7 and 8).

If I convert most of the pledges to store credit, transferring and pooling the credit back to my main account, I would have just enough store credit to get the Praetorian Pack, which has the Idris-M along with the Pioneer + Land Claim/Beacon.

I am strongly considering this, as that would allow me to get the proper military version of the Idris frigate.

There are several considerations holding me back from doing so:

1. I am tempted to wait for Invictus Launch Week and see what new ships show up. I can pledge for some new original concept/launch ships and convert them to store credit to place the pledge in my buyback while accumulating more credit.

2. On the other hand, CIG could discontinue the current Praetorian Pack right before or during Invictus, forever losing access to the Idris-M and Pioneer with Land Claim + Beacon in that package.

3. Converting the sheer number of pledges (mostly LTI tokens) into store credit and consolidating the store credit will require a lot of time and planning so that I am able to obtain the Praetorian Pack and retain important ships that are not in the pack for my account and the clones (C8R, Terrapin Medic, Ursa Medivac, Spirit series and the Galaxy).

This is an awesome move for you that hadn't occurred to me because I hadn't realized you were near the $15k mark. Moreover, you're seriously underselling it because you would also get an 890J that we very much need and you could give to recoil for his mobile HQ, a 4th Polaris so that every Commander in the Stanton system plus the Emperor would have a Polaris, and all this in addition to our 3rd Pioneer (so that every Stanton Commander/Noble House would have a Pioneer, which is very fitting for them), and of course above all the best ship in the game, the Idris-M, which on top of its utility is serious prestige for our org. VERY few orgs have an Idris-M! It was only sold during the original Kickstarter aeons ago, plus to a few rich people with the big packs.

You should also stop worrying about what the clones have (they should have nothing beyond their starter ship, really), as well as for cheapo stuff like the C8R, Terrapin Medic, Ursa Medivac, etc. which we can buy in-game in like a day for peanuts. The Galaxy too isn't a huge deal, even I can buy a Galaxy or upgrade to one whenever I want. This bullshit SHOULDN'T stand in the way of us snagging an Idris-M, 890J, 3rd Pioneer, 4th Polaris, and so on.

And do it NOW because it's not worth risking CIG changing the pack during ILW.

Same goes to anyone else thinking about it: if your total spend is already at or near $15k, melt the lot and get us more Idris-Ms because NOTHING ELSE IN YOUR ACCOUNT matters anywhere near as much as this ship!

It is done. I have committed the answer to the question of "What ship?" with "YES".

Image

"What did it cost?"

Image

"Everything."

Spent almost 6 hours converting 3 years of accumulated pledges into store credit, then redeeming the credit into the pack, plus some additional funds, to purchase the Praetorian Pack.

At least I can get back the Idris-P and the Galaxy for my main account and my Crusader Spirit 3-pack when I accumulate more store credit.

Real Talk Time

Unread postby icycalm » 13 May 2025 16:36

So I've been thinking about some stuff and whether or not I should say it, but you know me, I can't keep anything inside me for long, so I might as well come out and say all I have to say.

First off, that pack you just bought is the coolest gift I have received in my entire life. Yes I know it's not mine, but I will be able to play with all that stuff to my heart's content, and it's only because of you. So thanks. You've made my day, week, month, year and possibly decade.

So now we have the mighty Idris-M, an 890J for recoil, an extra Pioneer and Polaris (plus some more capitals that are coming in the far future), and a free land claim which I hadn't realized before might have unique strategic value but which after reading someone's analysis on Reddit on base-building [ > ] it seems it might. An additional cool bonus is that you're getting dozens of rare posters and in-game takuetsu models and other unique shit, and we can use it to e.g. decorate hallways or meeting rooms or even build an entire Library of Cult building.

Now, if the Idris-M is as significantly superior to the P as I have heard it might be (not only in terms of the railgun but also hull/shield strength), then it makes fuck-all sense for people with $15k spent to not melt everything and buy the Praetorian Pack. If in addition to this the land claim bonus is significant, that's even more reason to melt, melt, melt. Think of the stuff that ysignal and shubn—the two melting candidates—have in their fleet. Nothing in them will be anywhere near as useful as the M and the land claim. What's the point of collecting tons of little ships you rarely if ever use and can buy in-game anyway when you're giving up the one ship and one thing that you CAN'T buy in the game?

The above analysis applies 100% to ysignal, and even more than 100% because I think he hasn't been paying much attention to LTI so the pack would turn his entire fleet into LTI which is yet another bonus for him, and us. In shubn's case the analysis doesn't apply 100% because shubn has been playing the CCU game aggressively for massive discounts, all of which he'll lose if he melts. So in the end shubn is getting 2x the ships for his money, which is awesome, but... these are smaller, far less powerful ships than the Idris-M. So do we give a fuck that shubn will end up with a collection of every ship in the game if he lacks precisely the biggest, coolest and most powerful one? So if I was shubn, I would STILL melt everything at this point and get the Idris-M and land claim, because in terms of "gameplay" this is the best decision. In terms of collecting, maybe it is not, depending on whether you value more having more ships than a few big ones. So shubn's mileage may vary.

If the land claim bonus is significant and all three of our "Noble Houses" have one, we could potentially use them to put down a megabase on Terra or some other cool upcoming system. But then again there may not end up being a land claim bonus, so maybe this won't matter. But 3 Idris-Ms would mean we'd have at least one at our disposal almost all the time, plus we could field 2 from time to time. AND we would have hundreds of posters and takuetsu stuff etc. Plus, I believe the pack has better choices than the players have made in their fleets: we'd get 3 890Js with the packs for example, whereas no player has so far chosen to buy an 890J on their own. And isn't it fitting that the 3 Noble House leaders each have an 890J?

HOWEVER, there is another way we could do things. If the 4 of us (plus recoil who has also put quite a bit of money in the game) exchanged main account logins, then the entire analysis changes. Then we certainly won't need 3 Idris-Ms because we can always have Adjudicator's available. In that scenario I would still recommend ysignal getting one because we COULD field 2 Idris-Ms at the same time (5 players in each on a Saturday could easily be arranged), but shubn could keep playing the CCU game to give us access also to every other ship in the game.

HOWEVER HOWEVER, this second analysis doesn't take into account the new systems coming in the game. Even Nyx would screw up this plan because to get to Nyx from Stanton you have to pass through Pyro, so we're talking 1+ hours potentially for the trip, and it will only get worse with more systems added. At that point the only way for all players to be available to play in any system without long commutes would be cheap $45 clones scattered around the galaxy. You wouldn't absolutely need one for each system, but maybe one for each cluster of systems. Otherwise you would be hard pressed to participate in impromptu sessions far from your main account. So clones is the way to go, but that means that for every system we would be restricted to using the Commander's/Supreme Commander's fleet. So if we only have one Idris-M in the entire galaxy, even login sharing won't suffice to make it usable at all places at all times. So it is in that case that my Cult Spec shines, because it stipulates the vehicles that every Commander/Supreme Commander must have to maintain operations in a system. And in that case it would be best if both ysignal and shubn melt and buy the Praetorian Pack exactly like Adjudicator so they can spread out across the galaxy and allow us to manage more of it. recoil and I will also keep acquiring stuff to the extent that our budgets allow, but again we must be smart about it and not divide our funds among hover bikes or some shit: we too should melt and buy Idris-Ps at least, with the K upgrade when we can afford it. Or in the case of recoil, if he plans to remain in Pyro and other lawless systems, he should melt and play the F5 Wars and grab an 890J at the first opportunity.

And don't even get me started on Javelins. At that point I would recommend even pooling funds to get one, if we can only get one.

Now I'll completely change tack and talk about the thing I wasn't sure I should talk about.

You might have noticed that I've basically stopped buying SC ships in the last few months. This is partly because I can no longer afford to, but also partly because what little disposable income I still have I prefer to put into my Battlegrounds, and I hope the day will come when more people will start to think this way. I was even thinking at one point of selling my SC account for a couple of grand to put the money into my game, and if it was an easy and fast process I might have already done it. That said, I love my SC account and all the stuff I've amassed, so I will do my best to avoid selling it, and I might still buy the odd item for it now and then, especially if my crypto goes up. If my crypto goes up by even 4x-5x at this point, then I will have no problems and I'll be able to fund both my SC and BG addictions. But maybe this won't happen, or maybe it will take years to happen, so I have to plan for the worst contingency. Ergo why I have essentially stopped buying SC things. But precisely for this reason it gives me tremendous pleasure when I see other people still buying things, since I will get to use them.

However, and this is the thing I wasn't sure I should talk about, I must admit I also get an oh-so-slight pang of disappointment when I see people dropping fortunes on SC and nothing on my game. Even 10% of that spend redirected to my game would solve all my pressing funding needs. BUT, I don't want anyone's charity! I don't want people to spend on my game because they pity me, or "want to help me out". That's unsustainable and leads to nowhere: I want people to drop money on my game only if they think "Damn that thing's cool and I want it!", and I want them to redirect money from SC only if they feel it's the best deal and will give them the most pleasure!

So clearly, I have a fight with SC on my hands, and it's a big one, and you know I love a good fight, and I intend to win it. It's me against Chris Roberts: who is the best designer? I believe I am so much better than him that it's not even funny, and I intend to prove it, and I have a whole armory of aces up my sleeve that I am about to unleash to achieve it. I am preparing to sell entire Warhammer 40,000 factions for about the price of an Idris, for example. This has never happened in the entire history of gaming, and if you went to a 40K player and you told them that they could have an entire faction with INFINITE UNITS for $1.5k, and also have that faction EXCLUSIVELY IN THE WHOLE WORLD, and also use it in PA-style 4X solar-system wide wars that last a year, he would BURN HIS ENTIRE PLASTIC ARMY if need be to gain that faction and play that game.

And that's just ONE of the aces I am preparing in my fight with Star Citizen and Chris Roberts. Will anyone choose my game over his? Maybe no one will. Except me. Because I've already chosen, and that's why I stopped buying his ships.

It's a frustrating competition because I LOVE HIS GAME TO DEATH and not a day doesn't pass when my fingers don't itch to drop some more cash on SC. But if I keep doing that, my game is over. And I love my game much more than his. So I master my emotions, and keep my wallet closet. It also helps, as aforesaid, that Adjudicator and ysignal and shubn and recoil are still buying things that I will get to use. And hopefully my crypto will go up so I can buy some more stuff eventually.

IN SUM...

Everyone please do what you think will give you the most pleasure, both in regards to your SC fleet management, and in regards to my game. Play or don't play what you want, and buy or don't buy what you want. Trying to please me is a dead-end: the best way to please me is to please yourselves, and everything else will work out from there. We used to have a few people here who only played PA and Rust because I like these games and they wanted to like them too. But they didn't like them, and where are those people now? They aren't even subbed anymore. They left without even saying goodbye, that's how sour their experience here was. So don't sour your own experience. This is a site and clan about gaming, which means about fun! If you aren't having fun, you're doing it wrong! And understand that icy's brain works on overdrive 24/7/365 and he analyzes everything to death and back, and this post is merely my latest brain dump of some of the stuff I have been thinking about recently. That's all it is. Read it for the fun of it and out of interest, and then just do what you feel best for you. Thanks for reading.

Earlier in this thread I asked Adjudicator to explain to us the differences between the Idris variants and the aftermarket kit. He replied in a huge post that I have now moved to the Idris thread because it's more fitting there: https://culture.vg/forum/topic?p=39565#p39565

Praetorian Pack Survives!

Unread postby icycalm » 15 May 2025 18:21

Invictus launched and the Praetorian Pack is still intact with the Idris-M and Pioneer with land claim, thank Nietzsche: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/en/p ... ck-Digital

No price increase either.

That's the GREAT news.

The GOOD news is that there is now an Aegis Complete Pack for $8,500 cash/$9,500 credit that includes an Idris-P, and those are still in stock!

I like this pack because it's a halfway point to the M. For those who haven't quite spent $15k yet, they can melt and buy this, and then a couple years later melt again and buy the Praetorian Pack, assuming it still includes the M and hopefully the land claim.

The BAD news is that the Idris price went up a lot, especially in credit terms, from $1,300 cash/$1,500 credit to $1,500 cash/$1,900 credit. It makes sense, prices always go up on release, but for some reason it hadn't hit me that this would also happen to the Idris. Imagine how much the Javelin's price will increase...

In any case it's sold out, but there will be 5 more waves. Details at the bottom of the link above. It should be easy to get it with cash. With credit you'd have to play the F5 Wars. I should write a post about that.
