Crusader's long-awaited starter ship will be debuting in IAE in a few days, and one of them has my name on it. It's basically a smaller Ares. There was a huge controversy when it first leaked about a week ago because it was undergunned, which had both mechanical and aesthetic implications because the tiny gun made the asymmetric design look crap. TONS of threads complaining about it on both Spectrum and Reddit. But within a couple of days the gun had been bumped to S4 (I think it was S3 or S2 before), and the missile launcher had been widened, which totally fixed the asymmetry issue.

What will this ship be used for in The Cult? I think it will make for a good Courier vehicle. It can't take vehicles aside from a Pulse if you feel like tractoring it in (the Pulse is basically the smallest vehicle in the game and can be shoved into just about anything), but it has nice dual cargo holds and would make a cool small-box delivery ship. Better than a Cutter in this role because it'll probably be more maneuverable and with more firepower. I think if you want to deliver ONE box or just a few of them in as small and cheap a ship as possible, this would be the ship for you. And the interior is said to be probably the coolest among the cheap starters.

Can't wait to see the paints for it.

Crusader is such a cool brand. Starting from the name.

@Senecal wrote:I flew this ship around a bit and ran a few missions with it. I love the way it flies and the engines sound so good. Almost feels like a rumble in your chest when you hit those thrusters. It's beautiful inside and out. My only dislikes are loading onto those small elevators can be tricky, and I wish it had had another shield (it sometimes felt like my shields just melted away after a few hits), but other than that it has GREAT visibility and handling. Might be my new daily driver. 9/10 starter ship. ALSO I know a lot of people have been saying the Titan is better with the extra guns and such (don't get me wrong I loved my Avenger Stalker) but with the kitchenette, bathroom, weapon rack, suit locker, this ship is a huge win and best bang for your buck right now.

It's not the strongest ship, in anything but stealth.

It's actually a whole lot stealthier than it looks, and I hope it stays that way, because that is really the only selling point it has, which all of its other features are augmented by.

It's the one ship I'm gonna use to take advantage of harsh environments by being stealthy, while more or less self-sufficient, like in Pyro.

'Tis the only ship with a bed that has a cross-section signature below 5K on average (according to its MFDs its signature is around 1.6K... if it is to be believed).

Its fuel capacity is 1,2 million (aka 1,2 SCU) which is large enough to travel the entire span of Stanton, twice over.

Its amenities are incredibly good for a starter ship. Its cozy vibes are second to none. It renders the Origin 100 series completely and utterly obsolete.

The Size 4 guns may seem dainty, but its capacitors hold quite a few rounds ~74 something.

Will it be nerfed? Hard to say.

But I can tell you that it's got an identity that is congruent with its marketing advertisement.

"Perfect for short-range cargo runs and courier jobs, the Intrepid is a single-seat starship with a small signature and a big heart."

So, it's basically a blockade runner.

Now, the reason why I say this ship is a great "Event Ship" is thus:

You know missions like XenoThreat, or Save Stanton Phase 3, where a lot of griefing can happen, and you never know whether it's safe to show yourself or not, and if not, you can just go away, and let the event resolve itself while you do something else, and get credit for it?

With the Intrepid, you can jump in, look around, get the feel of the situation without getting detected, and get close enough to get your mission to update. Then you can decide whether you wanna help or not.

When you do decide to help, the Intrepid can contribute in small but flexible ways.

This makes PvA accessible to a solo player in many many ways and is only good for SC in general.

This is doubly true for a hostile environment like Pyro.

The Intrepid is one ship I don't mind shilling for.
