SmoothOperator89 wrote:Just so people are aware, your original purchase date does not count if you have melted your Idris. The date relevant to your naming wave will be the date you bought your Idris from buybacks. This means if you decided to use your Idris credits for other things and only bought it back when it became flyable, you'll be in the last wave regardless of when you originally got it.

I'm sure there will be plenty of salt thrown over this, too, but I think it's really the most fair approach. I figured there would be some drawback to melting my Idris, so I always held onto it. Of course, I'm only in wave 5, so I'm pretty late anyway.

No_Concentrate_7111 wrote:For the waves, it's to reward people who pledged for it earlier to give them a chance before newer pledgers do so... it's only fair.

Secondly, ship names are unique for immersion and making the ship feel special. If you could name ships the same name as other people's, we'd have a gazillion ships named "Enterprise", and it would end up being kinda lame.

Eventually all ships will be nameable, not just pledge but in-game too... doesn't matter the size of it. The current naming options are just for database testing so they can sort it out before they release the function for all ships.

I've figured out a way to ensure we can get pretty much any name we want. We call our ships "Cult X". So for example, Cult Enterprise, or Cult Genocide, or Cult Cleansing. Assuming they allow two words and a dozen or more letters.

So let's use this thread for people to run by me prospective ship names. I am cool with anything that doesn't sound stupid. Bonus if your name is cool, but it doesn't have to be. Just not stupid. Feel free to post a bunch of names in advance to get clearance for them in case your first choice is taken.

We also need to find if names can be changed. But this shouldn't concern us if people take the time to get the okay from me in advance.

There are currently no restrictions to how often you can rename your ships. Note however: https://support.robertsspaceindustries. ... ming-Guide

Cloud Imperium wrote:We are currently reviewing various options to limit the ability to change ship names infinitely, such as a cooldown and/or a small fee (similar to how handle changes work currently), as naming your ship is intended to be a meaningful and lasting decision.

Also:

Cloud Imperium wrote:IMPORTANT! Reserving a name will re-deliver your ship!
This means that any items, customization, or cargo aboard the vessel will be lost after completing the name reservation and assigning it a name as you will be given a brand new ship. Before going through the naming process, be sure to remove any added equipment, customization, and cargo that you do not want to lose.

This includes pledge items, like paints for instance, or components from the Idris 'K' and 'T' kits. Make sure to completely reset your ship to its stock loadout before renaming it so you don't lose anything and have to wait until the next patch to get your pledge items back.

Here are my propositions for my nameable ships:

Idris-P:
Cult Pallas

600i:
Cult Nereus

Reclaimer:
Cult Tartarus

Looking at your ship naming instructions, are we allowed to use "CULT" in place of "Cult" so that it is not only consistent with our player naming scheme - CULTx(Player name), but can also serve double duty as a ship prefix similarly to UNSC (Ship Name) from the Halo series?

Assuming that capitalising Cult is not allowed, here are the proposed ship names for my characters with nameable ships:

CULTxAdjudicator:

Idris-M:
Cult Indomitable

Idris-P (Reserved):
Cult Illustrious

890 Jump:
Cult Aether's Majesty

Carrack:
Cult White Whistle

600i Exploration:
Cult Black Whistle

Reclaimer:
Cult Right of First Refusal

CULTCLONE-2:

Reclaimer:
Cult Charon

I was given a warning that ship names can only "contain a maximum of 32 ASCII characters. Non consecutive dashes and spaces are allowed." while attempting to name the 890 Jump.

I modified the name of the 890 Jump as punctuation and symbols like the apostrophe are disallowed in ship names.

890 Jump: CULT Aetheric Majesty

I had already named my ships, but I went and renamed them with CULT in all-caps. Ship names seem to be displayed in all-caps in the game currently, so I don't think it makes a difference, but better to have the capitalization be consistent regardless.
