Narrative Event: Fight for Pyro

Unread postby recoil » 29 Jan 2025 06:08

This is the sequel to Save Stanton. icy ran that one as Cult Emperor/Stanton Commander, and I'll be running this one as Pyro Commander. If there are missions that cross into Stanton, icy will take over those, but so far it seems to be all in Pyro.

In the next post I'll tell you which gang we'll ally with. For now, absorb the materials. There's quite a bit to take in. For the deeper details, be sure to check the Spectrum thread linked below.

Allying With Frontier Fighters

Unread postby recoil » 29 Jan 2025 06:57

It was a tough choice, but I've decided we will be allying with the Frontier Fighters. Their slogan won me over, I like the mission options available and it seems like a good opportunity to loot gear from the Headhunters.

Note that this decision applies only to characters stationed in Pyro, whether main accounts or clones. For characters stationed in Stanton, icy will tell you which gang or gangs to ally with. Note also that we’re planning a big game in the weekend, so my advice is to hold off until then to play if you want to play with max players.

Awesome! And yeah, Headhunters must be looted. On top of their leader's great stuff, look at the second guy from the left. I have never seen his stuff. Citizens for Prosperity also have stuff I haven't seen. First AND second guy from the left.

Regarding characters stationed in Stanton, I'll have a breakdown soon. Basically it depends on what planet you're in. You'll need to help that planet's Commander to get the paints that best suit him.

Fight for Pyro Is One-time Event

Unread postby icycalm » 29 Jan 2025 07:20

From the Spectrum thread FAQ:

Cloud Imperium Games wrote:▲ Will you run this event again in the future?
► No, this is a narrative experience and will only run once!

Just like with Save Stanton. And this time the reward is much cooler. We've been waiting for that gun for years.

So that's one of the differences between Narrative and Dynamic/Global Events: they're only ran once.

Stanton Orders

Unread postby icycalm » 30 Jan 2025 03:07

So here are the orders for Stanton characters.

Image

-My main character (icycalm) will work with Headhunters to get the purple paints.

Image

-Adjudicator's main character will work with Citizens for Prosperity to get the red paints.

Image

-ysignal's main character will work with Frontier Fighters to get the green paints.

NOTES

  • There are no blue paints so shubn's main character can do what he likes. Same goes for any other players' characters stationed in Crusader.

  • What about other players' characters stationed in ArcCorp, Hurston or microTech? They have to first of all help their Commander get his paints, and then, if they want to pursue paint rewards themselves, they have to pursue the same ones as the Commander. They don't get a choice in the matter. That's part of why you choose different systems or planets, otherwise the choice would be meaningless.

  • For now, probably everyone except the Commanders will be stationed in Pyro because it's the new system, so the Commanders back in Stanton will probably be alone. That's fine. When the construction mechanics come in later this year, and the real building happens in Stanton because in Pyro we won't be able to protect shit, you'll see how fast players will bring their characters back to participate in construction. And then we'll need the ship paints to match the building paints, so get to work acquiring them now (the buildings will be custom-colored by players, so Adjudicator will build red bases, shubn blue, etc.)

  • What about any clones the Commanders may own? They can do what they want with them, regardless of where in Stanton they station them. If they station them in PYRO, then they have to follow recoil's order, but if they station them in Stanton they can go for any paints they want: either again their own color, just so as to be able to field larger fleets of their own color, or if they're trying to collect all paints, any paints they want. In my own case, I would love to get more copies of purple paints, but on the other hand I also like to collect all paints, so since I have 3 accounts in all, I will go for all 3 paints: purple with my main from Area18, red with my clone 1 stationed again in Area18, and green with my clone 3 stationed in Ruin Station as per recoil's orders.

  • The Stanton Commander paints are the most important reward in this event for us, so the Commanders should report in this thread when they acquire them. This means me, Adjudicator and ysignal. No one else has to report. If you need help to get over the finish line, let us know and give your account to someone else to help you. If we only get the icycalm, Adjudicator and ysignal paints for this event, it will be a success for us.

  • When Stanton units go into Pyro to do the missions, they can either use pirate paints if they're teaming up with Pyro units, or they can use their home paints if the team is solely composed of home members, e.g. ysignal can go in all-green paints, etc.

  • Since recoil picked the green paints, we'll be flooded with these, so ysignal will have lots of people's ships to choose from for microTech ops. It's cool because the green paints also happen to be the coolest-looking from all the choices, in my opinion. Of course recoil doesn't care about that since he can only use silver/black pirate paints in Pyro.

  • Interesting tidbit: Look at the background colors of every gang in the official announcement post. They match the ship paints. Pretty cool I thought. And in that respect, the Headhunters have the best-looking announcement, as well as the coolest fashion, and the coolest name and logo. In my view.

Citizens for Prosperity Lore

Unread postby Adjudicator » 30 Jan 2025 18:56

This perfectly aligns with my original plans. During the first Save Stanton missions, I saw the Citizens for Prosperity (CfP) paints and noted that the red colour scheme suits the Hurston Commander affiliation well. Reading up the lore and story pages on the RSI website, there is even a perfect story and lore reason for this: This civilian non-profit organisation is headquartered in Lorville, Hurston, and there is enough speculation on Reddit that it is funded and fronted by Hurston Dynamics.

One Reddit topic on this: https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/co ... tizens_for

sexual_pasta wrote:It makes no sense to me. Why are CfP being portrayed as squishy liberals saying that not all crime comes from Pyro? Their whole raison d'etre is that they are a bunch of Stanton dwellers who are fed up with the constant pirate incursions. They're based on Hurston and heavily implied to have some shady connections to the Stanton megacorps. Their entire project is that they want to resettle (key word, they're not evangelists, they want to replace the gangs not convert them) Pyro and make it safe for business.

This is an inherently violent project!

Another Reddit post in a different topic has some more interesting information from existing lore and extrapolated speculation: https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/co ... e_owned_my

Wonderful_Physics_36 wrote:You should take a deeper look at the lore as opposed to a superficial glance at a wiki.

It will give you greater context as to the stellar-political standings and the historical aspects interlaced with economic machinations of the various groups.

Such as that CfP is an extention of Hurston's interests (to a degree), and that RR made early moves after the fall of Pyro Amalgamated to monopolize fuel distribution to enforce control + profits.

There is a "law of the jungle" to be had in Pyro (non-edgy version), you just have to look deeper into the players on the chessboard.

The Fight for Pyro Begins Now

Unread postby icycalm » 30 Jan 2025 20:34

I have some bad news.

I was planning on launching our Fight for Pyro efforts this weekend, but then I thought better of it. The reason?

It won’t let you share contracts. What does this mean for us?

It means that if 2 players show up on the weekend and they both want to help each other complete Phase 1, they need to do 12 missions instead of 6.

3 players? 18 missions.

10 players? 60 missions.

Note some players like me and Adjudicator have upwards of 3 characters. That’s 18+ missions just for our own characters, just for Phase 1. No way in hell we can join anyone else’s crew and help them out.

This means that Fight for Pyro is set up to be singleplayer lol. At most you could help a friend if he’s having trouble with a mission, and he could help you back. But forget about half a dozen people all helping each other. It won’t happen. Too damn inefficient.

I believe this is an oversight on the part of CIG, and it might be fixed. Because if they throw big missions at us like the Idris one from Save Stanton, we’ll need help. The event chain might even be impossible to solo, or close to impossible. I don’t think they only want the aces to finish the event. There will be revolution if so.

Why would they do such a thing?

I suspect it’s because of the gang alliance mechanic. They don’t want a player allied with Frontier Fighters to be able to join his friend who’s allied with Citizens for Prosperity. But then they could just make sharing work only for players on the same side. That’s why all our Pyro characters chose one gang after all. But maybe it’s extra coding that they didn’t have time to do? I can’t imagine it being hard coding.

In any case, we don’t have many options right now. For the most part, each of us has to pursue his own mission completions, and mostly team up when having trouble or if one player has done all of his and is idle.

So start playing whenever you want/can. To be sure, ping everyone when you start your session. But don’t expect a big pile-up of players helping you. And God help Adjudicator and me with our 3+ characters.

P.S. Share any mission tips here, not on Discord, making sure to specify Phase and gang along with mission type. There are 2-3x more mission types here than in Save Stanton, and seeing as we’ll have to pretty much solo them, people will need help.

Frontier Fighters Phase 1 Tips

Unread postby Some guy » 01 Feb 2025 21:08

So I'm now at 1/6 for Phase 1, it's actually quite tough. I focused on Frontier Fighters' "Punish Outlaws" mission which entails killing all the targets on an asteroid base.

These bases are defended fairly well, with two to four enemy ships and two turrets and the one time I managed to destroy both ships reinforcements came. Maybe some bases have better or worse protection, I obviously haven't been to all of them. Approaching from the front is very difficult and you're almost guaranteed to get blown up if you aren't a great pilot in a strong ship or you don't have anyone to help you. What I did instead was fly around the asteroid and find a good spot that I could hide my ship in and then EVA out all the way to the base's entrance. The first time I did this I was only about three hundred metres from the entrance but the second time the best spot I found was just over a kilometre away behind some ruined structures in an alcove, I think it would have been impossible for the current AI to have gotten to my ship.

The first time I entered a base it was pretty straightforward, every enemy had a target marker that popped up immediately which made it quite easy to pick them off. The second time, however, was quite glitchy. Only a few enemies had markers so I had to be very cautious, plus later on more enemies spawned in seemingly out of nowhere (maybe from an elevator or previously locked door?), though they did at least all have markers. If you enter a base and see twelve or so markers you should be good, if you only see a few be extra cautious. Then a couple of times enemies I had killed immediately stood up but didn't fire their guns and just stood still. I couldn't kill them again so I ignored them.

Most of the targets had grenades which I picked up and used, they do seem to be less glitchy overall than they were before but I still ended up dropping one even though my character did the full throw animation so avoid them for now. Sometimes it takes a while for a target's death to register, so if you still see the target marker after you've killed them just give it a minute or two and it should disappear.

So I was wrong, you aren't always sent to an asteroid base, you can also be sent to outposts on planets or moons.

I was always sent to an outpost close to a Citizens for Prosperity or Headhunters base which made approaching difficult so I would circle round the two areas until the outpost was between me and the base, that way I wouldn't alert any CfP/HH ships patrolling their base (though sometimes the outpost was just too close to a base to do that).

Some of the targets could be shot from the air but most were inside buildings. As before sometimes markers wouldn't show up and not every enemy would spawn in at the same time. You should carefully explore each building (including the roofs) and if your progress bar gets stuck at something like twenty percent even though you aren't seeing any more targets just slowly go through each building again and eventually more enemies should show up. You might have to do this three or four times.

Re: Narrative Event: Fight for Pyro

The ship paints are only given if you completed both chapters. And ysignal didn’t do the first one. So there’s no way for him to get the green paints... If anyone has a clone that completed the first chapter, maybe you could sell it to ysignal? Just a thought. Or maybe he could buy an account on the grey market that completed the first chapter.

ysignal’s main account’s reward for completing Fight for Pyro will be the cool laser SMG.

Wait, I think he did do the first chapter and I am confusing it with Overdrive earlier last year, which he didn’t do. So no problems then.

Cloud Imperium Games wrote:How will you take part in the pivotal moments shaping the 'verse's future? Tune in for a first look at the next chapter of Pyro's ongoing conflict, coming in Alpha 4.0.2.

First off they explain the clues they put into the last chapter so the players could figure out that the "Slicers" were a false flag op by Frontier Fighters. Two clues: They used the same armor just with different colors, and some of the missions to kill Slicers supplies/Frontier Fighters supplies were identical. There were also apparently data pads to read.

Next chapter is called Supply or Die and seems to involve only Citizens for Prosperity and Headhunters? And the Frontier Fighters are the enemies in both cases? Not sure I understand fully what's involved, so we should all HOLD OFF ON CHOOSING A SIDE UNTIL RECOIL HAS HAD A CHANCE TO INVESTIGATE AND TELL US WHAT TO DO. We have all of March to do it anyway, there's no rush, and it doesn't sound like a long event. The rewards seem to be cool yellow industrial ship paints and orange cargo containers, but again, wait until there is an official event page because there may be different colors if you pick different sides. And as before, I will give orders for the characters stationed in Stanton.
