Second generation PS3, dead after barely 15 hours of use, as seen here:

First console I ever had die on me, and I've been buying consoles since the Master System! It got to the point where I didn't really believe all the accounts of 360s dying -- I seriously thought people were making shit up, or just doing stupid shit and killing their machines. At any rate, I've had 3 or 4 360s and they've all behaved perfectly. And now this goddamn PS3... second hardware revision... 15 hours! And I bought it years ago -- 2009 I think it was -- so there's no warranty or anything (not that I'd kept the receipt even if there was a warranty... I never keep receipts).

I do have a Jap PS3 (original fat model), but it's in Greece at the moment...

So that's my horror story. Not really horrible or anything since I have so many other consoles, and a new PS3 costs practically nothing now, but it makes you wonder what kind of world we are living in when a young console like this can just up and die one day, for no reason at all.

Or maybe it was because I'd left it on standby for a few months? Could this have been the reason?
