Streaming high-scores

Unread postby icycalm » 08 Aug 2021 06:12

Chev just laid down a 12.5-hour stream of Starbase a couple days ago, and it reminded me that we actually have a comp going. You can see all of our longest streams in the Twitch Highlights section: https://www.twitch.tv/insomniacult/vide ... &sort=time

So currently our ranking goes like this:

Code: Select all
RANK PLAYER   BIRTH YEAR TIME     GAME                DATE
01   ysignal  '84        19:14:11 Rust                June 2, 2022
02   ysignal  '84        17:24:53 Starbase            August 14, 2021
03   recoil   '89        13:52:44 Life is Feudal: MMO April 23, 2020
04   icycalm  '78        13:41:22 Rust                July 1, 2017
05   icycalm  '78        13:12:06 Atlas               July 4, 2020

recoil has just 11 minutes on my record. I remember that stream, he was about to cut it, and I was like, just hang on for a few more minutes. He was barely staying awake.

Will anyone ever break 14 hours? SpecOps can do several days guys... We're really slacking. It's disgraceful.

To further shame people, I put my birth year in the board, and will put everyone else's too if they give it to me.

P.S. Is it a coincidence that ALL the games on the list are the best games ever? Try playing Street Fighter for 14 hours, you'll probably go into coma.

ysignal rockets to the top of the board with a stunning back-breaking 17.5-hour stream of Starbase!

The race is on for the first 24-hour Le Cults stream. Here are my suggestions for how to achieve this:

1. Sleep well and start playing THE MOMENT you wake up. Don't waste time doing other stuff. The records recoil and Chev and I set were typically done while starting the game in the middle of the day, or even at night. We had already had at least half a day or even a full day of being awake under our belt before we started playing, otherwise hitting 24 hours, or even beyond, is not a huge deal. I routinely stay up for a day and a half, or even up to two days. If I start playing the moment I wake up, the sky's the limit.

2. Make sure you've stocked up on food the day before, so that you won't have to run for breakfast or interrupt the session for more than a few minutes.

3. Clear your schedule completely from the night before. Leave nothing to do for game day, and tell friends and family to piss off.

4. Pick a great game! You can't play a pos for 24 fuckin' hours!

5. Have fun! Set for yourself ambitious goals in the game, goals that take fuckin' forever, and go after them! (And again, you won't be able to set ambitious goals in simplistic, crappy games, quite simply because there are no such goals in those games.)

ChevRage beats his high-score by a mere few minutes. Just under five minutes. But he now occupies two slots on the leaderboard, just under me, who have three. ysignal and recoil have one each.

Cult streaming champion ysignal shows how to play Rust by beating his previous record by nearly two hours!

19.1-hour Rust stream of legend with ysignal and The Cult (June 2, 2022)

Code: Select all
RANK PLAYER   BIRTH YEAR TIME     GAME                DATE

Keep in mind that this stream is a continuation of this 3.2-hour stream by Chev, which ysignal picked up when Chev went to sleep: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1315934435

So ysignal played for a total of 22.3 hours! If he'd been streaming from the start, that's what his high score would have been! Should have streamed regardless of what Chev was doing... We all should have. Some cool moments were lost this way.

He said he's 37 so I put his birth year as '85 on the table. Let me know if that's wrong. recoil's, Chev's and my high-scores are nearly 6 hours beind! At least I am 7 years older than him, but I don't know what recoil's and Chev's excuses are, they are both younger than both of us.

Who will be the first to break the Le Mans record of cult gaming? The whole world is staying tuned on culture.vg to find out!

P.S. Note, once more, that it's always the same games, and basically a single genre, that shows up in this table. Games that are basically more fun than life—for a few days at any rate—and that's why we can't put them down and go to sleep.
