Solid horizontal run & gun by Irem. Nice gfx, weapons, vehicles, and stage designs -- too bad the music sucks. There's also a Super Famicom port, but it's quite inferior.

OK, that first boss rapes me every time. Gunforce 1 and 2 are pretty much Metal Slug -1 and 0 and I've always sucked at Metal Slug.

Midnight Resistance ftw! Although it's a bit shit without the proper joystick.

71,700.

168,201 - R.M - 2
Here's my "method" for the first boss- head right and destroy the tank thing with a bazooka shot. Stand under the right hand laser and fire wildly upwards. When the three fireballs are headed toward you, duck!
Finish the laser off before it gets a chance to fire.
Now, run to the right corner. Jump over the fireballs, and try to aim diagonally up-left at the center part and fire like crazy while continuing to jump over the fireballs. It's a bit tricky to get him to aim diagonally, but you'll have plenty of time as long as you keep jumping those fireballs.
Now, the second boss, that's just rediculous.

Actually, I am playing this with a 360 controller, which has one of the shittiest d-pads in the history of d-pads. Wait until I get a decent stick...

And by the way, please submit scores in a score - username - stage format (like maxchain did), cause it's easier for me to copy-paste them this way.

And yeah, still stuck at stage 2 boss. I don't think there's a trick to him -- you just have to be extremely precise.

I've got two different PS2 to PC adaptors and they both have nasty lag. I thought it might be my old PC but I hooked my arcade sticks up to the new one yersterday and it's just as bad. :(

Things like this and the tearing because of comp resolutions make me want to get a modded Xbox for MAME playing.

Here's some tips on how to beat that Stage 2 boss, courtesy of yojo! from Shmups:

yojo! wrote:I always try to stick to he Bazooka weapon; it's the most powerfull one and you can use it a pretty fast rate.
For the 2nd level end boss I quickly kill the 2 lasers at the right, and stay underneath the right window; The bazoka can cancel any grenade they throw you from above; and I occasionally shoot in diagonal to hit the eye thingy in the middle. If a grenade ever makes it way to you; make sure you stick at the far right of the screen; the grenade will hit the ground but the explosion won't hit you. Pretty easy once you get used to it... The 3rd level is pretty cool; you gotta to drive a big tank or a motorcycle.

The guy says he can one-life it to the stage 5 end-boss, so it should work. I'll try it this weekend I think and see if I can get any further.

I have the SNES version, does it count for this competition?

Sure, why not. Go ahead and post your score and I'll add a second table for the SNES version.

Ha, now you are making me want to see the third stage. Unfortunately I have exactly twelve Wii games sitting on my desk that I need to play and review asap...

I decided to just list both versions on the same table for now. If you have the time, why don't you play the MAME version for a bit and tell us if you can see any differences, apart from graphics...

I can't get Mame to work for the life of me on my PC, but I'll keep trying.

Who do you write reviews for besides this site? I'm just kinda curios.

Why would I want to write reviews for any other site? If you haven't noticed it, they all suck ;)

Oh I got ya. I just wasn't expecting any Wii game reviews here. Even the games that get 1 out of 5 stars here still seem pretty sweet, hopefully these Wii games will be fun and slightly obscure like the other games reviewed here.

Maybe we should remove the ones from the end since it's a glitch.

EDIT: Improved

Done. From Dale's score it seems the port doesn't have the glitch.

You guys play on the hardest difficulty? I wonder since I could beat the boss on the 2nd Stage after a few tries on normal and it wasn't too hard(Yes got to Stage 3 on one credit if you wonder).

No one's wondering. It goes without saying.

As for the difficulty level, it's always the default one, except if noted otherwise.

Remember to mention if you are playing the arcade or SFC/SNES version if you post a score.
