We'll use this thread, in the Strategy forum, for strategy stuff related to the clan. Keep the game's main thread free for general discussion on the game unrelated to the clan.

Here's one useful resource to start us off. Don't shy away from doing research and dropping links in here before Saturday: this game is immense, and the more we know going in, the better.

Star Citizen Ships Prices (Alpha 3.17) & where to buy or rent them
https://www.gamersbynight.com/star-citizen-ships

Most expensive one I can see is the Origin 890 Jump for $950. Doesn't sound too bad.

https://starcitizen.tools/890_Jump

Star Citizen Wiki wrote:The Origin 890 Jump is an interstellar super-yacht designed to immerse its passengers in opulent luxury as the ship cruises from system to system. Some 890 Jumps are privately owned by extremely wealthy individuals, in which case they serve as the ultimate social hotspots for friends, family, and guests. Other 890s are commercial vessels that focus on the elite tourism industry.

The Origin 85X is included with the 890 Jump.

Image

This is actually featured in that great fan trailer I've been linking everywhere. I'd probably throw in a couple hundred if we decided to try crowdfunding it. Or maybe we could go for something cheaper and more military-looking.

I wonder if you can combine in-game credits with real money to get what you want. That might also be a possibility: run through as much fun content as we can to generate some cash, and then top up the remainder with real money.

Crew capacity is listed as "3-8", so it might not even take the whole clan lol.

Star Citizen Wiki wrote:Guest roomsː Each of the four guest suites features an island berth with oversized imperial gelcore mattress along with two berth end tables. Each room is finished with a specially selected stock of galung wood, which is known for its natural luster.

We might need two lmao.

Image

Image

It has a fucking pool rofl? And you can swim in it?

Image

"Master bedroom" trololol.

The site I linked has dozens of pics of the interior and exterior. It's a mindfuck. You feel like you're buying a real yacht, and cooler than any real yacht as it's in fucking space.

Some day Chris Roberts will wake up and realize he can make billions by launching an NFT blockchain on this game instead of the shitty pseudo-games they're using with this stuff right now. That'll be the NFT killer-app.

They make official trailers for all the ships in the form of commercials for them! This is for the superyacht:

Very well made. As good as some trailers for whole games, and this is just for ONE SHIP in this game!

Moreover:

It looks absolutely INSANE inside it! It looks and feels cooler than the environments in ENTIRE OTHER GAMES.

This next guy says he spent a year grinding the money for the ship, so assuming he was alone, it sounds like a group of us might manage it in a couple of months.

Mustang Alpha & Avenger Titan

Unread postby icycalm » 08 Aug 2022 03:16

This thread was originally titled "Strategy" but since so far I've only posted about ships in it, I renamed it to "Ships". There will be a strategy thread later when we need it.

So let's list here all the ships we have.

I have a Mustang Alpha which is a pure fighter. Apparently, it can carry little to no cargo so it's bad for earning easy money but I figured we'd need a couple fighters for protection.

Official page: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pled ... tang-alpha

Roberts Space Industries wrote:Inspired by Consolidated Outland CEO Silas Koerner's cutting edge vision, the Mustang Alpha is a sleek, stylish spacecraft that uses ultralight alloys to push power ratios to the limits, albeit sometimes unsafely. And now, with the optional Cargo Carrier, you can have the Alpha's advantages without sacrificing carrying capacity.

ysignal has an Avenger Titan, which is one of the bigger starter ships (he paid a bit more for it). This is the one we tried to fly on our first session because we figured it could fit the whole party, and it can indeed fit perhaps a dozen people easily, but there's only one seat in the cockpit, and one bed in the back; everyone else will be standing. There do seem to be some openable seats in the back, about 4-6 iirc, but we couldn't find a way to open them. You can see them in blue color in the second pic below. Not sure if there will be less space for passengers when the ship's loaded.

Official page: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pled ... nger-titan

Roberts Space Industries wrote:Lacking the prisoner cells of the Stalker or the EMP of the Warlock, the Titan's hold is free to carry cargo. Couple that with the Avenger's tried and true combat abilities and you've got a light cargo hauler that's more than capable of handling itself in a fight.

Image

I don't know what ships the others have bought, so let us know here. Note that if you go through each ship's official page, you'll see there are variations you can buy (or upgrade to?), and it's all very deep.

And finally, a word about how we'll build up our org's fleet.

Currently there is no way to assign ships to the organization, so each player will have his own roster of ships. This was also how it worked in Starbase at first, until they later added communally-owned ships. However, I suspect this feature won't be coming to Star Citizen for a while, if ever, because they have a tremendous incentive here to force everyone to buy their own ships, since they're selling them for real money, which wasn't the case in Starbase. Whatever happens, it's not a huge deal for us, since as long as a player is in the game, his friends can take any of his ships and pilot them or whatever. So we'll pool our money on my character, and I will be buying the expensive ships for us. And since I play more than anyone, the ships will be available for anyone most of the time.

Of course everyone is free to do whatever they want with their money, and if you want to build your own fleet you're welcome to. But you won't get far compared to a dozen people pooling resources, so think about it.

Keep in mind also that there are already some survival mechanics in the game, so for example you'll need to hydrate regularly, and that costs money. Not sure if you also need to eat, but if not I am sure you will eventually. Also there are shitloads of things to buy, from clothes, weapons and armor, to all sorts of ship upgrades, maybe even apartment upgrades, and of course eventually you'll be building homes and bases. So people can easily fritter money away and end up with little to nothing to contribute for the communal ships.

I am not going to come up with rules for how you should spend your money. I myself plan to buy as cool armor, clothes and whatever as I can, so everyone is free to go wild. Just... rein in your expenses at least at the start until we've figured out some ships we want to get and set some goals and do some math on how much we must accumulate. We'll make threads for all the different kinds of things we can spend money on, and prioritize. But it won't be super-structured because this isn't a job and that's not fun. We just need A LITTLE structure, and beyond that just do what you want and have fun.

recoil got an Avenger Titan, so this is what our current fleet looks like:

ExiledOne: Aurora MR
ChevRage: Aurora MR

Still need to know what Jameson bought.

Also, I'd like every ship we get to be presented in this thread with link to the official page, official description, commercial if any, and some pics. I've done the other two ships above, so here's the Aurora MR.

The following four are our own pics from the Crusader showroom on Orison.

Roberts Space Industries wrote:Utilizing the patented Hercules military-grade spaceframe and expanding cargo capacity, while sacrificing barely any firepower, the C2 has taken the private sector by storm. It has become the industry standard for racing teams, ship dealers and manufacturers, construction orgs, mining corporations, and even large-scale touring entertainment outfits.

I love that the website doesn't show the prices and you need to get them from the showrooms. recoil took pics of the price terminal. Presumably, these are all the ships and variants for sale at the Crusader showroom:

Image

Image

The other ships weren't particularly good-looking, so we'll focus on this one. There are three variants.

C2 (Transport): 4,925,500 UEC
M2 (Military Transport): 5,225,300 UEC
A2 (Heavy Bomber / Military Transport): 5,525,000 UEC

At the showroom, when I didn't know anything about their differences, I thought let's go for the cheapest, but now that I've looked at the brochure, if we're gonna be spending this much cash, we may as well get the bomber and be able to bomb shit with it. So I say we go for that. Let me know if there are any objections. And once we have it, we can start loading it up with vehicles (no idea where you buy these from). You won't believe how many it can fit. It can fit an entire platoon's from PlanetSide worth of vehicles lmao.

Image

2 tanks or 10 buggies (and they're two-seaters, meaning 20 people!), or 5 heavy personnel carriers (or whatever these things are).

That's how it disgorges them:

Image

Last but not least, the bomber is black:

Image

Also, I see 8 beds in one of the promotional pics. It probably has more:

Image

The variants have their own official pages, with new descriptions and pics:

M2: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pled ... 2-Hercules
A2: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pled ... 2-Hercules

I actually think we should keep looking until we find something MUCH cheaper. I don't want to jump straight to the big leagues, it'll be much more fun working our way up, plus I think it'll be faster this way because every bigger ship will give us bigger possibilities for bigger payouts. It's just that we've only visited one showroom, and this was the coolest ship in there. So keep looking, and if you find something you like, please present it here with some pics etc. like I did. You don't have to go overboard like me, but put some effort into it. After all, we'll be working for months for these things, we should at least have a page with some cool details to motivate us.

But certainly the A2 Hercules is on our shopping list now and we're gonna get it eventually.

What a fucking game! A single ship the size of another videogame's level, and with more thought and complexity going into it than entire other games!

The enormous Hercules I just shilled above—the one that can take two full tanks or ten buggies—is at the bottom-left lmao, almost the smallest ship in the pic. And the ships we now have are nowhere in the pic.

The capital ships aren't in the game yet. I've heard that they will premiere with Squadron 42.

Star Citizen Ships in Production | Merchantman, Corsair, Crucible, Hull C, Legionnaire, SRV, + More

To get hyper-hyped about the future of Star Citizen, watch this video. It's not just the ships, it's the MECHANICS these specialized ships will bring with them. Salvage, tractor beam, mobile repair and resupply, drones, hostile boarding, versus hacking. It's utterly insane and it's all coming OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS. Imagine this goddamn game in FIVE YEARS!

As a side note, I couldn't believe the YouTuber was black when the video finished. He is easily the best SC YouTuber I've seen. Everyone else has annoying accents and/or voices, rambles pointlessly, etc. This guy is a clinical professional with a silky-smooth voice, strong analytical skill and great production values. I'll be watching many of his videos soon, and reporting back on them.
