Show me another game that has ANYWHERE NEAR this level of action.

And it takes place across an entire SOLAR SYSTEM with no invisible walls or loading screens.

Star Citizen does for FPS what Planetary Annihilation did for RTS, and it is glorious. It is the Planetary Annihilation of FPSes (and space sims, and Shenmues, and any genre you care to mention).

Not enough rolling on the floor yet though, so the Souls series is safe for now.

The video is here in full res: https://gfycat.com/graciousmintygrasshopper-gaming

You have to click on HD and turn the sound on to see it in its full glory.

Notice how he can go exactly where he wants to be with the two sticks. Can't move like that with only one stick.

SonicStun wrote:Yup the shadow definitely looks like an X-wing. He's flying a new ship called the Scorpius, which is heavily X-wing inspired.

Star Citizen Cinematic and music: Tumbril Cyclone
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_YzDJZswEU

This is a player-made demo video for the Cyclone rover, and I initially planned to put it in the Ships thread, but the action is so insane that it deserves to be highlighted here instead. I was especially blown away by the scenes were accompanying ships fly suicidally close to the ground. Amazing video. I loved it so much that I put it in my Ultimate Trailer Ranking.

Star Stranding!

Another incredible video from the same guy who made the Cyclone one above. You might think plain walking cannot be INSANE ACTION, but in Star Citizen, it is. Just watch and you'll see.

Also added to Ultimate Trailer Ranking.

Hilarious new action becoming possible in 3.18. Salvage ship blows off arm of another salvage ship and then hull-strips it while the other ship is on the ground. I don't think there's another game where this is possible. And these are just two specialized ships in a game where you will eventually have thousands, with dozens of specializations.

Mesmerizing. I could watch this every day at breakfast to fire me up for the day. It's at the level of surfing/snowboarding/downhill videos that I watch like this.

Some day I'll learn how to do this.

Make sure to have the music turned on.

Two Vultures salvage a Hercules and deliver cargo to a Caterpillar. It definitely pays to do industrial missions with buddies now with the cargo refactor and the hull-stripping. And you might get jumped by other players at any time.

Sheer insanity. That's the craziest racing I've ever seen, and this isn't even a racing game.

Remember, this isn't a racer where you can only go right or left. This is full 3D movement. AND ALL DONE IN A PVP AREA LOL. You can get shot at any time, or hit someone's wreck who flew there before you.

Not to mention the blackout mechanics.

Dragging a body from a bunker to your ship waiting in the distance feels cinematic as hell. Haven't played in years and the game has really come a long way!
https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/co ... _your_ship

Image

No other game can compare to this level of epicness because a similar scene in another game would be dumb and scripted, and the area surrounded by invisible walls. Here we are on an entire simulated planet in an entire simulated solar system, no invisible walls anywhere, and fully PVP, so anything can happen at any moment.

And then ON TOP of all that, it's gorgeous in a way no other game has ever been.

Not to mention that the medic had to BUY his medical ship through many other adventures (or credit card lol), and it wasn't just given to him for the purposes of some dumb "campaign".

Mesmerizing.

The further you watch, the better it gets. I watched the whole 15 minutes and I am sure I'll watch it many times again. It's an anti-depressant. I don't know how you can't be ecstatic about the future of gaming, and even of mankind, after watching this.

Music is perfect, cut-ins are perfect, even the girl is perfect. I half-expect her to take a break and go meet Deckard for a drink. It's the Blade Runner city after all.

The flying is unbelievable, and I will be able to do this some day.

This guy summed it up:

The game's motto should be "There's more than one way to skin a cat"
