A good source for release schedules in Australia is http://palgn.com.au

http://www.vg247.com/

This and Gematsu are good alternatives to the big blogs -- far less fluff, and far less retarded opinion-peddling. If they ditched the blog format they'd be truly great. As it stands there've only got about 10 games per page at best, and most of them are games already mentioned, but that still puts them above NeoGAF in density of news and ease of reading, so they're really indispensable. Gematsu is more Japan-centric and the successor to Andriasang, and VG247 has considerably more fluff but also a lot more on Western games, so all in all I'd say these two are the best of the blogs at the moment, by far.

dinopoke has been linking to this site a lot, so I added it to the list:

http://www.allgamesbeta.com/

It has a stupid name, but I like its layout far more than Gematsu's or VG247's, and it seems to feature even fewer filler posts than either of them. My only little gripe is that it could have used a higher number of posts per page, but that's an issue with every other site except Insomnia.

Edit: And what's up with that stupid huge Assassin's Creed header at the top?

Good for news on space- and sci-fi-themed tactical and strategy games.

Added this to the English section considering how influential it's getting:

Hello all:

Is the culture.vg community interested in modding news? I can use http://www.moddb.com as a source for promising mods.

Sure dude, post about whatever you find interesting. I was not a big fan of mods myself, but after seeing all the amazing things the Planetary Annihilation community has enriched that game with (which I plan to report extensively on eventually in the PA thread), I am now 100% onboard.

This is a Facebook group for turn-based tactics games. It's updated very frequently. It's a closed group so you need to join it in order to see any updates.

Huh, that's exactly how I wanted NeoGAF to function. For years I've been thinking of writing an "Open Letter to NeoGAF", asking them to remove all the variety threads from the main forum and just leave the ones about new games, because currently they only have 2-3 new game threads per page, and if I want to find the latest 20 or 30 upcoming games I have to skim pages for hours. But your link already works like that. Sure it's messier than having one thread per game, but it's still light years more usable than NeoGAF.

Someone made blog-style frontpages for NeoGAF and ResetEra that work like Insomnia's frontpage and make the forums much more readable. Check them out:
