I am putting this thread here so the trolls don't see it and try to contact our new players and mess with them. That Stuart98 guy has been hounding me on Steam, in the game, and he just followed our Twitch channel, so I don't know what other shit he might try to pull.

So, we got all these new guys coming in, but they are not equally invested. Some of them might be YES PLEASE I WANT TO PLAY, and some of them might be "sure whatever", or "yes, but in a month because I am on trip around the world right now". So to save you the effort of spamming everyone with friend invites and Steam chats that go nowhere, I will post here our recruitment chats with them, so you know whom to contact and whom to leave alone for now. Note that I haven't saved all of them so far, but from now on I will. Here goes.

(Also, the generic Mumble password is "sesame", if you want to try to get some of them on Mumble on your own, which you should because it's a lot of work for me to handle all of them on my own. Make sure they also have the CULT tag in PA before they play with you and that they are on your PA friend list.)

This is The Dean's friend. It's only half of our conversation because I didn't save the first half. It starts right after I showed him last Saturday's video. He was very enthusiastic in the first part, and he told me his friend The Dean would love to play with us and that he would talk to him:

No one goes in the group unless I personally invite them. But that has nothing to do with PA. You can bring in as many people to the clan, and on Mumble, as you want, and when you tell me about it I will send them the group invite. It's only a formality.

Also, let's start posting here our experiences with the new members, so we are all on the same page.

So far, I've only played with Aischylos. He is a cool high school senior from Massachusetts who's going to study computer science next year and has been playing PA since beta (about 110 hours). He has the clan tag and has connected to Mumble, so he is good to go. He also likes big team games, though I don't think he's played many, so I think he has a future with us. The only bad thing about him is that his desktop PC has a very loud fan, and it's sitting on his desk, and it can get really annoying on Mumble on continuous. On voice activation it's tolerable, though he said he'll try to get his desktop off the desk, or play with his mic's sensitivity settings.

Played a game with Pitch Black. He's new to the game but it's not his first RTS. He's asked me to play a few games so I think he's pretty enthusiastic about it. His speech occasionally became really garbled and broken up. He's in Malaysia and said his internet connection isn't great.

Pitch Black never asked me to play, and he's always on Snooze when I see him. I had written him off as worthless, so glad to hear you got him on Mumble. Maybe he didn't message me because I am the group's admin and he feels more comfortable messaging you. But then you are a moderator now... Or maybe your time zone is more convenient for him than mine. It's good to have more people from that side of the world, so that the Australians have more people to play with.

Note that The Dean is one of the most enthusiastic new recruits we have. And his friend Ashslayer, though a little less enthusiastic, will want to play with him. They were busy yesterday, but they should have time to play this weekend (and they have both used Mumble before, so they should be easy to get on our channel). Other people that seemed quite enthusiastic to me were the funny banana, the Swedish kid Starnerd3 (who needs to be told to remove the CULT tag from his Steam account name), DrZ, WwAiRtRhIiOnR, maybe Jacko, and ArchiBuld, but he's a noob and will require a lot of work.

Also, I have stopped asking Celeryjack to play. He either always says no, or he says nothing, or he waits for an hour after I messaged him and then says no. I recommend no one talks to him again. We have dozens of new people to talk to; Celery knows the Mumble channel so he can drop by whenever he wants. Don't waste your breath on him. Begging him every day to play with us makes us look pathetic, as a group. We don't need him.

The group now has 60 players, and I have 73 people on my friend list. That means I have another dozen people to try and add to the group, and that's without all the ones who will accept my friend invite today. The plan works exceptionally well and there's really no limit to how much we can grow the clan as long as we are prepared to talk to all these people patiently and figure out what's their deal. I am a bit overwhelmed by the amount of work required, but on the other hand I am glad it's up to me if I want to make a huge PA clan or not. It's great to know I don't need anyone else to do it.

Once you have played a few games with someone and you are comfortable with them, and as long as they have a few extra minutes, you should get them on PA Stats if they don't have the mod already. Get them to download PAMM and enable it, and play at least one game so that they show up here:

I have an idea for Galactic Clan Wars and I'll see if I can get the leader of Promethean, who is my friend, to try it out with me. Basically, The Cult vs. Promethean Galactic War, and once that war is over we can start a new one and bring in more clans. And the players on each side will be determined by PA Stats: whoever is on PA Stats with his clan tag will be eligible to play. And players can be added DURING the war. So this will be a good way to spur clan recruitment. Losing the war and running out of commanders? Go on a recruitment spree and throw more players in the battle!

Cool, no?

I am even going to tell the other clan leaders how to recruit people, but only after we have become the largest clan in the game. Once we reach 300 or 400 players (all of them on PA Stats, lol, so the others can see how huge we are), we can play.

Just played a bunch of games with Starnerd3/StarofSweden and Hot Brown/MayorD (danjiro was also there). They are both really cooperative and really fun to play with. They know the game well too (and are both on PA Stats). Nothing else to report here. Play with them.

Played with Auraenn. He whined about large team games and he whined about Mumble versus TeamSpeak, but in the end he came online and played a nice 5v5 with us. No whining in the actual game, so maybe he can be salvaged. We'll see. And before that we tried playing with the funny banana, but he sounded like a 12-year-old lol, or like a girl, and when I casually inquired about that, in the politest way I could think, he disconnected from Mumble, left the Steam group and removed me from his friend list lol. A productive day, all told.

I removed Celeryjack from the group and my friend list. He just sits on Steam all day with his status on "Looking to play", but he never replies to my messages. The one time he replied he took an hour to do so, and still said no. And the one time I played with him it was like playing with a deaf mute. He still has the clan tag on PA Stats, so if he talks to you guys at some point and wants to come back you tell him to talk to me and apologize, otherwise don't play with him if he comes on Mumble. I can't boot him from Mumble because he uses the same password as all the new guys and I can't change that without fucking everyone up.
