Codemasters has announced a new table top racing game called Toybox Turbos, coming to Steam on November 12th at £11.99 and will be heading to Xbox 360 and PS3 shortly afterwards.
Even though it's titled Toybox Turbos, it definitely channels the spirit of micro machines – Codemasters racing series featuring toy cars which first came out in 1991.
There are 18 obstacle-filled courses with plenty of shortcuts, all set in childhood locations, from pitch tables covered in jam to science laboratory desks with bunsen burners.
There are 35 vehicles to collect, from sports cars to more eccentric vehicles like ice cream vans, moon buggies, and milk floats. The game features six game modes: Classic Races, Time Trials, Overtake which takes advantage of turbocharged toys, Escape in which players must avoid getting wiped out by the tide, Countdown in which players must be the clock, and Elimination which features boss battles. There are, of course, plenty of weapons and power-ups, including electronic pulses, giant hammers, and machine guns.

The physics look a bit floaty from the trailer suggesting it will likely not have the tight controls of the first three Micro Machines games. It also seems more combat oriented.
