Bridging the past with the future

We are excited to present you with the return of Heavy Gear to the gaming world. Heavy Gear and Heavy Gear 2 by Activision were State-of-the-Art and pushed the envelope of what was possible in the late 1990's. Both games paid tribute to the acclaimed and award-winning science-fiction Heavy Gear Universe, created by Dream Pod 9. The original Heavy Gear PC games left a lasting impression on a whole generation of gamers through its action packed game play, cutting edge graphics and deep lore. Heavy Gear Assault will be even better. Built with tomorrow's technology, Heavy Gear Assault will be nothing less than amazing.

Heavy Gear Assault will combine over the top, fast-paced Giant Robot action with all the pageantry and excitement of a World Class Sporting event.

Corporations show off their latest military technologies and sponsor champion Gear duelists. Crowds cheer for their favorite pilots and charge the atmosphere with electricity. The klaxon rings as armored mechanized gladiators charge towards each other with driven determination. Players are thrusted into the cockpit of their Heavy Gears and are immersed in the unforgiving, high-stakes gladiatorial battles in the dueling arenas of Khayr ad-Din for fame and fortune. Players will feel the adrenaline and pulse-quickening energy of this popular Terra Nova Sport.

Let the Games Begin: Game Play

Mech Simulator, Extreme Sports and Fighting Genres combine to give players a never before seen, in-your-face giant robot experience.

While staying a true mecha simulator game, Heavy Gear Assault will allow players to engage in desperate melee combat and unleash devastating combos that will both defeat their opponents and thrill the crowd.

Heavy Gear Assault will feature a dynamic destruction engine. Hits on Gears will produce real, visible, physical damage with direct effects on performance. The environment can likewise be leveled by massive firepower or by crashing Gears.

Each Gear is a purpose built war machine and will have their own unique sets of perks and flaws. Heavy Gear Assault will feature tons of upgrade parts and weapons that will allow players to tailor their Gears to suite their play style.

Players can also experience the thrill of Heavy Gear Assault from the Grand Stands and sponsor other player's matches. The outcome of the match will have direct consequences on the spectator's sponsorship, leading to an exciting fan following of the best duelists.

Whether you want to decimate your foes with wittering firepower or cut them down with a precision VibroKatana strike, be sure to do it with style. After all, that's what the dueling fans paid to see.

Let's Talk Tech

Heavy Gear Assault will be built with next generation, cutting-edge technologies. The Heavy Gear Universe will come to life with breath-taking, amazing high-end visuals regardless of your PC setups.

Combine with an epic soundtrack and innovative game play, Heavy Gear Assault will deliver an unforgettable, over-the-top gaming experience.

Yet another "interesting IP from the past" KS campaign. Heavy Gear this time. Done by MekTek Studios and StompyBot. MekTek used to be a fan community that produced some kick ass content for Mechwarrior 4 back in the day. Better-than-official models, tweaks, and new content. It was fantastic. They were also the group granted permission to assist with redistributing the MW4 free release from the other year. This game looks like it'll be free to play as well, from the looks of things.

The Campaign wrote:The world of Heavy Gear Assault is unforgiving – but so is your lust for glory. A pilot on the distant planet Terra Nova, you play the high-stakes game of competitive Gear Dueling. You earn fame and fortune by making a name for yourself on the arena floor. You stand out from the crowd by customizing the look and style of your Gear. You manage corporate sponsors, hire a support staff and fine-tune your Gear’s performance in the Gear Bay. You rise to the top, claim your position – and with every cannon shell left in your magazines, you refuse to let go.

Heavy Gear is a pretty awesome property, and I think these guys could do some neat stuff with it, but damn are they asking a lot for this campaign, all things considered. The extremely lacklustre first day doesn't help matters any either.

Don't know about the rest of his comments, but the last claim, about the devs asking for too much money, sounds bogus. 800k for a modern 3D game, on Unreal Engine 4 no less, is chump change. The forumroids are judging games' budgets by their own, penniless standards, and it's bad for the games and bad for the industry.
