The Ultimate Videogame and Art Theory FAQ

Unread postby icycalm » 16 Jan 2014 23:27

I just got this idea from here: http://culture.vg/forum/topic?p=22252#p22252

So I will make a page on culture.vg -- a GIGANTIC page (and moreover a publicly viewable one...) -- that will include, not the answers themselves, but the location of the answers on the Insomnia main site, the forum, or the books. And I will start right away with the question from that NeoGAF thread: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=752774

Q: Why is the old school beat 'em up / brawler genre essentially dead?
A: See Alex Kierkegaard, Videogame Art: Volume I, Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun review.

You can use this thread to link questions you find on the net, or post your own questions, and I will use the OP (and, once enough questions have been amassed, a dedicated page on the main site) to point you to the answer to your question -- even if the answer happens to be located in an as of yet unreleased book.

Anything is fair game, including the ultimate videogame-related question: Why do videogames have such a hard time making people cry compared to novels or movies? etc.

So, go ahead and ask me anything. (Or you can also provide both the question and the location of the answer, to help me populate the page, as I did with the example above.)
