Industry layoffs

Unread postby icycalm » 07 Jun 2014 00:40

A good article on the subject on Kotaku: http://kotaku.com/why-game-developers-k ... 1583192249

Via NeoGAF, for those looking for more discussion: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=831526

The only thing I didn't like about the article was the last line of the penuiltimate paragraph:

Jason Schreier wrote:Ultimately, as developers continue to burn out and leave big-budget gaming, we'll keep seeing smaller, more creative projects, which for many video game fans is a good thing.

He automatically assumes that smaller projects are "more creative" even though the entire history of the artform overwhelmingly supports the opposite conclusion. But that's what "indie" propaganda does to those who are merely posing as lovers of an artform.
