- Xbox 360 version developed by someone else
- Planned to target current gen, but realized that they couldn't run it
- Started to look into next gen and the answer they got from Microsoft intrigued them
- They said they needed to focus on fewer hardware. In the future they are open to more. They don't specify if it would be this project or another.
- Plan to use Microsoft's Cloud for dedicated servers and physics and AI calculations
- Campaign Multiplayer, "traditional" multiplayer mode, and a "One-Player Mode".
- Spring 2014 Release Date
- There are a good amount of screens. In my opinion it visually looks pretty nice.
- First person shooter
- "Mech" and ground combat
- "Mech's" are called Titans.
- They want these Titans to feel fast. They can dodge etc.
- If you don't want to pilot the Titan you can have it follow you, killing people as it goes along.
- Player characters are called Pilots (male and female)
- They are extremely agile. Can run on walls, multiple jumps.
- They can take down Titans. Jumping on them and shooting the "brain".
- You need to be cunning as a pilot. "Hit and fade" tactics is the term the game director uses.
- Pilots come equipped with a variety of weapons. Pistol, Assault Rifle, Anti-Titan Rocket Launcher, data knife used to hack AI characters into joining you.
- There are AI enemies on the maps.
- You survive longer than in COD. Making it more welcoming to newcomers.
- Source Engine. Building new engine = too much time.
- Source gives them 60 fps
- Modified Source - "Rewriting major portions of it".
- Article talks about the process of forming the team, being fired, prototyping ideas etc. I recommend reading it.
- Going for a District 9 or Blade Runner vibe.
- Integrate memorable single player moments into a multiplayer game.
- Storytelling style will be more Left 4 Dead.
- Humans segregated between Earth and frontier planets. Corporation trying to take the resources of these frontier people.
- Progression system. No details yet

E3 Demo Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5sqPxbLmIU

Looks a lot like a Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare match, but the inclusion of the Titan mechs and the greater speed and agility really set this title apart as something special in my eyes. I can't wait to see more.

The action is awesome. The FPS equivalent to Metal Gear Rising. And the graphics, atmosphere, setting, aesthetics are also great (with only some minor character-design issues here and there). It's the only multiplayer-only FPS that has so far managed to attract my attention, but it would have been much better off as a 4-player co-op campaign experience, with the multiplayer simply tacked on as usual.

Gamescom 2013 play footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzYDrzk1xs4

Game is looking better and better every time I see it. The above footage makes it really hard to tell that this is a multiplayer-only match, and I cannot wait for the day to finally play it.

I love how at the end of the match, instead of kicking the player to a lobby or popping up a scoreboard, you get a message from command telling you to retreat. You have to run back to your dropship with your tail between your legs, with enemy titans still firing down on you. This is all going down with intense music that seems to perfectly fit the situation just like you'd have in a traditional FPS campaign. It looks incredible.

You've got half of my Quake and Counter-Strike reviews right there lol. We should definitely make a Titanfall clan when this hits. Still, I don't see how it could hold my attention for long, even with all the single-player borrowed bells and whistles.

One thing I also don't like is the generic mecha design (though it's nowhere near as bad as Fuse's...)

Footage of a PAX promo build from August 31. It includes details on pilot and titan loadouts, and wall-running and jumpjets: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_J8X1D4N1C0

Description of the jumpjets: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_J8X1D4N1C0&t=3m7s

Wall-running resets them, so as long as you can find a wall to run against you don't have to touch the ground.

Titanfall has been "really tough" to market due to its lack of a traditional single-player, according to developer Respawn.

No shit Sherlock. That's the market working correctly, and you missing the message. The message being that multiplayer games suck, and that we don't fucking want them.

Beta rumoured to start February 14th: http://www.vg247.com/2014/01/27/titanfa ... 14-rumour/

Dave Cook wrote:Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment is rumoured to be holding the shooter’s beta phase starting February 14, according to marketing material found in a French retail store.

Xboxygen was tipped off that posters at French retailer Micromania placed the Titanfall beta at February 14-19. The beta will be made available exclusively through the retailer in France, and through GameStop in other territories. It’s open specifically for pre-order customers. We’re yet to hear about a UK equivalent, but we’ve contacted our local EA rep for comment.

We’ll have more on this as it comes.

Expedition DLC announced.

http://www.titanfall.com/news/titanfall-expedition-dlc

Today during our panel at PAX East, we revealed details on Expedition, the first DLC map pack for Titanfall. Coming this May, Expedition will introduce three new maps to the Frontier including Runoff, Swamplands and Wargames.

TitanfallExpeditionArtB.png

In the wake of the Battle of Demeter, IMC Expeditionary Forces travel deep into Frontier space to recover from their recent defeat. On an uncharted world, the IMC begin construction of a new fleet operations base, using newly acquired water collection and filtration plants to support the new base. When drainage operations reveal ancient ruins and artifacts of an unknown origin in a nearby swamp, Spyglass activates an archaeological team to investigate the site. To maintain battle readiness at the new base, IMC Pilots use simulation pods to train for anticipated Militia raids, based on lessons learned in Angel City and IMC Airbase Sierra.

Titanfall Expedition is the first of three new content packs with each pack available for $9.99. For fans looking to get all three content packs while saving a few bucks, the Titanfall Season Pass is the way to go. Available for a one-time price of $24.99*, the Titanfall Season Pass is available for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC and delivers all three content packs as soon as they become available.

If I had to describe them in half a dozen words, I'd say "giant buckets from 1986".

Titanfall 'Frontier's Edge' DLC Announced

1404838129-titanfall-frontiers-edge.jpg

Continue to Battle on the Edge of the Universe With Titanfall: Frontier's Edge DLC

Today, Respawn Entertainment announced Titanfall Frontier’s Edge, the next DLC pack for the critically-acclaimed first-person shooter Titanfall. Pushing the battle to the furthest reaches of the universe, Titanfall Frontier’s Edge introduces three exciting new maps including the isolated mining outpost of Dig Site, the exclusive beach resort of Haven and the mining hub on the side of a mountain known as Export.

Titanfall Frontier’s Edge is the second of three planned content packs with each pack available for $9.99 / £7.99. Gamers who are looking for the ultimate value can purchase the Titanfall Season Pass, which offers all three content packs for a one-time purchase of $24.99 / £19.99 as soon as they become available. The Titanfall Season Pass can be purchased for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and on Origin for PC.

Set in the near future on a distant frontier torn apart by war, Titanfall drops players in the middle of a conflict between the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation (IMC) and the Militia. The action is rapid and varied – featuring parkour-style wall running, massive double jumps and the ability to hijack titans. The freedom to shift back and forth between pilot and titan allows players to change tactics on the fly, attacking or escaping depending on the situation and extending the action vertically to new heights.
