Warframe is a free-to-play cooperative third-person shooter video game, developed by Digital Extremes for Microsoft Windows.

Players control a member of the Tenno, ancient warriors who have awoken from centuries of cryosleep to find themselves in a war with the Grineer, a race of militarized humans, and the Corpus. The Tenno use advanced armor with unique properties, called Warframes in the war against the Grineer and Corpus.

In Warframe, up to 4 players work together to complete missions such as wiping out enemies, or retrieving data from terminals. Players can carry a primary weapon, such as a rifle or shotgun, a secondary weapon, usually a pistol, and a melee weapon. Players are given XP for killing enemies and completing missions, which allows them to level up their weapons and armor. Each warframe also has 4 different abilities that can be unlocked through the progression system. Players will also have to hack terminals by completing a puzzle minigame to complete some objectives. When equipment is leveled up, it will unlock mod slots, which can improve or add various stats of weapons and armor, as well as general stat bonuses.

The camera is positioned over the shoulder for third-person shooting, and the player can also jump, sprint, slide, and roll, as well as combine techniques to quickly move throughout the level and avoid enemy fire. Money, ammo, and weapon and armor mods can be found in set locations, such as lockers, as well as dropped by enemies. New weapons and warframes can be purchased in the market, using either credits earned in game, or platinum purchased via microtransaction.[2]

Maps are randomly generated from prebuilt rooms connected together, and they can have special environmental effects such as ice, or infestation of the Technocyte virus.
[edit]
Missions

There are several different mission types within the game.
[edit]
Alert

Alert missions are only available for a limited window of time, and are very difficult, but provide special rewards.
[edit]
Assassination

Assassination missions are the equivalent of boss fights. Players will move through the level wiping out standard enemies, before facing a boss character. These missions often provide rare weapon mods, or other equipment as drops.
[edit]
Capture

Capture missions involve the player moving to find a VIP target within an enemy ship while fighting enemies. Once the VIP is located, he can be incapacitated and then dematerialized and captured for interrogation. After the capture is finished, the players must fight their way back to their ship to escape.
[edit]
Defense

Defense missions require players to protect a cryopod from waves of attacking enemies.
[edit]
Extermination

Extermination missions involve players moving throughout the level and wiping out enemies. The number of remaining enemies is displayed on the HUD, and the minimap indicates whether an area has been cleared of enemies or not.

Warframe is a co-operative online free-to-play third-person shooter with randomly-generated missions, sweet ninja swords and a variety of unlockable weapons, upgrade, special abilities and classes – all from the makers of the excellent The Darkness 2. You are invited to join the Tenno this weekend, from 12:00PM EST on February 15 to 9:00AM EST February 19, thanks to an open beta event. You don’t need a key, but you will need to be registered, so visit Warframe to get on that.

Do you like Ninjas? What if they were in space? What if you could slash enemies, blast them with guns and obliterate them with crazy exo-armor powers? Would you like to level-up, build a Space Dojo with your friends and hang out, dueling each other and trading wall-running stories? Good news! Warframe is your ticket to all of that and its coming to PlayStation 4, for free, at launch! Not only that… we’ll be showing the world Warframe on PS4 next week at E3.

Our team has been polishing the demo and cramming in as much as we can to ‘wow’ everyone who gets there hands on it at E3! On Friday we showed the rest of our development studio Warframe on PS4 for the first time and the reaction was unanimous – 1080p Warframe is smooth and beautiful! Like kids with new toys, playing with the PS4’s toolbox of goodies has our minds spinning with design ideas for Warframe

I love the DualShock 4. The triggers feel awesome and the touch pad is a sweet addition. Right now, we’re using the touch pad to activate your crazy Warframe powers on the run with a flick of your thumb or finger. Want to lunge and smash with your Rhino Warframe? Swipe your thumb up on the touch pad and you’ll charge like a battering ram into a group of helpless enemies.

One of the cool things about Warframe is the Alerts system – throughout the day, missions of opportunity come up and players can squad-up for stellar rewards. To get these notifications when you’re away from the system, we have created an iOS and Android Companion App called the Warframe Nexus. Players can customize their alert settings to show them only the missions and rewards they’re interested in, and while it’s very useful, it’s only the beginning for the Nexus.

Well, I’m off to play the latest build and get my Ninja on - the start screen on our demo literally says “Press X to Ninja”. I hope you check out our new trailer and stay tuned for more details throughout the summer on Warframe!

Warframe to get major 'Echoes of the Sentient' update this week

Warframe is getting a substantial new update in the form of 'Echoes of the Sentient', and it looks like it'll dramatically alter the experience. Due in a matter of days, the expansion offers a huge movement overhaul, with players now able to double jump, latch to walls, wall dash and aim glide. There's also a new 'Equinox' Warframe, as well as a new boss battle, quest and Grineer Ocean map tileset.

The player movement changes look set to be big, but arguably bigger is the addition of new Archwing submersibles, allowing ocean exploration and, inevitably, new combat scenarios in modes ranging Defense, Survival, Capture, Rescue, Mobile Defense, Exterminate and Sabotage. The new boss battle sees the return of a newly miffed Tyl Regor.

There are five new weapons, too. The Ack and Brunt (Tyl Regor's custom axe and shield), the Grattler (an explosive Archwing canon), Harpak (an automatic harpoon gun), Kulstar (cluster-rocket launcher) and the Twin Grakatas.

Here's a rundown of some other additions:

NEW CONCLAVE ADDITIONS
Daily Challenges: Earn additional Standing with Teshin's Conclave by completing Daily Challenges.
New Conclave Maps: Apex (Annihilation/Team Annihilation), The Spire (Capture the Cephalon) and The Pit (Annihilation/Team Annihilation)
Conclave Mods: Purchase 19 new Conclave Mods through Standing from Teshin.

NEW KUBROW ITEMS
Retriever Kubrow: Trained to retrieve valuable resources for its master.
Kubrow Armor: Outfit your Kubrow with new Rostam and Valinn Decorative Armor.

NEW CUSTOMIZATIONS
Izvara: The exclusive garment of Tenno chosen to protect the Orokin Council of Executors.
Nelumbo: Worn to honor the Lotus.
Udyat: A flowing ribbon of silken fabric, crowned with a star.
Vanquished Banner: Add insult to injury by mocking the Grineer with their own banner.
The update is due in a matter of days. Feast your eyes on the Echoes of the Sentient highlight trailer below:
