So here are some APPROVED TaleSpire assets for the City-building and 4X phases. Note that eventually I will include building costs for everything (in the BP units used by the
Ultimate Campaign rulebook), plus the benefits conferred by each building. And note also that each building will come with its occupants, just like in Age of Empires. So the slabs won't be abandoned, as they are in the pics below, they'll all be populated by farmers, soldiers, and their wives and children and animals and so on, all of whom will be on hand to fight during battles, or have to be protected from them.
What are my criteria for approving a slab? It has to be gorgeous and unique. The majority of slabs people make are drab and boring and ugly and rectangular and barren and depressing. It is only a small minority of them that jump out from the screen at you as unique, alive, looking lived-in, etc. Those are the only ones I will allow. Also, I automatically disallow slabs that represent buildings found in officially published D&D materials, because some group or other will eventually go there in an adventure. But buildings inspired from non-D&D materials, such as movies, comic books or videogames and so on, are allowed.
One thing people do that I hate with a vengeance is when they try to make something in a hacky way. E.g. ship tiles don't exist yet, but people have built slabs that look like ships out of house tiles etc. Or they've built stuff that looks like railroads, or opera houses using camping tents for the stage, etc. All that stuff is disgusting and I won't even bother considering it. If the building cannot be created realistically in full with tiles already included in the program, it means we can't have the building in our world. In most cases, we just have to be patient until related tiles are released, which shouldn't take long for most of the major fantasy-related types of buildings that we need.
So here's what we got so far. I am looking at more stuff as I type this, especially complex boards comprised of several pieces, trying to figure out if I should offer the board as a whole or the pieces independently. Look for more updates to this thread soon. This is just a first rough pass.
