Pyro was playable by CitCon attendees over the weekend and will become more widely playable in a new Preview Channel separate from Stanton and the Live build on October 31! That's like a week away! Pyro! In a week! All details are here: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm ... ew-Channel
Invites will be sent over the next few days. It seems that highest priority will be given to those who bought the CitizenCon 2953 Digital Goodies Pack (which you can still buy): https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm ... -Available
Next up is Concierge members, so if you're at $950 you could spend another $50 to have that base covered too.
And finally "our most active testers", which I am sure doesn't describe any of us.
So I fulfill both the first two criteria, so I have a good chance of getting in at or near the start. Eventually they'll open it up by the normal wave process, and even then I do well because I have the highest sub. And ultimately it will be open to everyone, but I suspect this will take months.
Bottom line is I intend to play in this test version exactly the same way I play the Live version. Normally I would wait for the move to Live, but though this usually takes only about a couple of months, in this case I suspect it will take many months because 3.22 is coming for the holidays, and that means 4.0 probably won't make it before the spring. And I sure as hell won't wait until the spring all the while Reddit is flooded with Pyro screens and videos on a daily basis!

Moreover, we have real work to do in Pyro, and the sooner we start the better. It doesn't seem like we'll be able to buy our regular gear there, and since Stanton won't be connected to this server environment, we won't even be able to ferry the gear across. So we'll have to come up with a frontier outfit for the foreseeable future. And there are new planets, stations, outposts and missions to try and get acquainted with. There are bombing missions, and you can have shootouts with other players inside stations!

They don't have all the content in yet. Only 3/6 planets, and not even Ruin Station, it looks like. But they have brand-new mission types, and consider that we won't even know where to buy the different gear and will have to visit all locations and figure it out ourselves. Plus there's a good chance that they will add more content by the 31st. I really doubt it will be exactly the same content they had at CitCon. It may even be the entire system, which would be insane.
I don't think you lose anything by playing asap, and I don't think you gain anything by waiting 6 months. I've been playing SC for over a year now, and I haven't even done 20% of the Stanton missions, so what's the point of waiting until the spring to be swamped by hundreds more missions in a brand-new system? I may as well start now and get a head start.
Of course progression in the test environments gets wiped more frequently, and there are more bugs, etc. etc., so I don't expect everyone to jump in with me, and that's no problem. But if you're interested in jumping in, let me know, and above all let me know when you get an invite to play. I can't wait for one of us to start playing! Hopefully it will be me!
P.S. New Stanton and Pyro subforums will be going live soon, and also separate Discord text channels.
