Anybody a fan of Yahtzee's reviews? I'm not quite sure where I stand but they certainly are entertaining.

He's got up a defence of his SSBB review (not one of his stronger ones really) but he makes a few decent points about the reviewing process.

I've always found Yahtzee to be very amusing, at one point I thought he was turning into a onetrick pony with all the gay jokes he used, but he went on to parody this fact in his Army of Two review.

I havn't yet seen the review you linked to but I remember him saying something along the lines in the original SSBB review that 'he wasn't a fan of fighting games' and 'cant see the point in playing a game for 15 years, learning every subtle nuance only to be beaten by a button mashing buffoon' which totally disqualifies him as fighting game reviewer.
His reviews in general, always seem to put emphasis on the narrative/story elements of any game, loving Super Paper Mario for the writing but then hating Super Mario Galaxy for its lack of narrative or divergence from 'princess is kidnapped by Bowser' scenario.

He is a huge fan of Silent Hill. Speaks volumes.

To be honest I feel people only want him to review games to ridicule them, so they can then go onto the comments section of kotaku and gamelife to suck his metaphorical dick with 'Yahtzee FTW' and 'he pwned all of you [insert brand here] fanboyzzz!!!1'.

Yahtzee is a very weird character, because he sometimes is funny as hell and others tries to be funny but fails miserably. Although, he is very good at pointing gaming stereotypes and making fun of them.

But, IMO, he should drop the talk-as-fast-as-you-can-without-breathing act, it's starting to get annoying.

Overall, I tend to like his reviews.

What makes it worse is that Croshaw didn't even want to review the game. He had no interest in it, didn't want anything to do with it. But apparently the forum dwellers have been pestering him to do so, and he caved in. And lo and behold, they're actually surprised to see that he, in fact, does not enjoy the game. This is, of course, after he specifically told everyone that he had no interest in fighters and didn't want to touch the game.

The thing is, Yahtzee is a comedian first and foremost. He isn't really a reviewer half the time. More of a ranter who tries his hardest to point out every single tiny flaw in a game, making it seem a lot worse than it really is. Yet his fans still look to his reviews for an honest opinion. And honestly, the guy's got good points most of the time, but his fans seem to have trouble discerning his valid points from the source of his comedy; the baseless nitpicking.

He is honest and I always trust his reviews. MGS4 is a great example. But he was too easy on that game.
