[PS4] Until Dawn

We've been working on this game for a while now, working with Hollywood writers and US TV talent, doing our best to bring the Teen Horror experience to PlayStation. Inspired by classic movies in the genre, we expect that Until Dawn will draw you in with its characters, killer dialogue and shocking, twisted story.

On the anniversary of their friends' disappearance, a group of classmates visit the site of the mystery to bury their ghosts and get some closure. Little do they know, they'll end up burying each other instead...

It's Teen Horror so obviously it's isolated, the power's out and the phones don't work! You'll play through the story as multiple characters, sometimes with a friend and sometimes on your own to discover who it is that’s intent on killing off you and your friends. It’s up to you how you play, so we don't know how your story will go or who'll be there with you at the end.

To play the game you'll use the PS Move controller in a totally natural way. It'll act as your flashlight, guiding your way through the darkness, or when you want to use something the controller will intuitively map your actions in the real world to those of your character’s hand in the game world.

Coming in 2013 exclusively to PlayStation 3. Get ready to be scared!

Until Dawn for PS4 bears no resemblance to the game first shown two years ago. That's because developer Supermassive Games threw out what they had and brought in Hollywood writers to re-do the story, which, based on what's in the trailer and in the middle-of-the-game segment I played, revolves around a group of eight teenage friends who've started to go missing in the creepy bowels of a cabin during the winter. That there are so many playable characters is where the Eternal Darkness whiffs waft from, while the plot – in my demo, Ashley and Chris discover clues that their eventual clown-masked captors see fit to torture the teens after somehow knowing every exact detail of some terrible, humiliating act they committed against their missing friend Sam the year before – recalls the basic outline of Jennifer Love Hewitt's star-making turn in I Know What You Did Last Summer. You'll encounter vague dialogue choices (i.e. responding as sympathetic or not to Ashley's fears) reminiscent of Heavy Rain. And the Saw influence? Well, Until Dawn has a bit of torture porn in it too.

The game runs on the Killzone: Shadow Fall Engine:

Now powered by Killzone: Shadow Fall's tech and reinforced by Hollywood screenwriters and motion-captured acting performances by Heroes' Hayden Panettiere and Twilight's Rami Malik, Until Dawn's new direction is certainly a welcome one.

Until Dawn Launches August 26 ... st-26.html

Until Dawn Trailer (PS4):

Until Dawn Launches on PS4 August 25th

It’s been a while since we’ve updated you all on Until Dawn but I’m pleased to be back on PlayStation.Blog with some thrilling news. Today we are delighted to announce the release date for Until Dawn!

You will be able to determine the fate of eight friends starting on Tuesday, August 25th!

This is a really exciting time for us as we enter the final stages in the run up to release, so you can expect to see plenty more coming from the Until Dawn team over the next few months.

I’m also really thrilled to reveal a new cast member that you’ll be seeing in Until Dawn – Peter Stormare, who you might recognise from Prison Break, The Big Lebowski and (more recently) Arrow! He gave some incredibly powerful performances in the motion capture studio and you can tell from the end result in the game that he had some fun with the character. We couldn’t be happier to have him in the games and I can’t wait for you to see him in full flow.

If you’re itching to get your hands on Until Dawn you can pre-order it from today, so that you’ll be able to play from day one and you’ll unlock a special bonus scene for free! This exclusive scene sees Matt and Emily, a new couple, out on the mountain – but it’s not long until they start to suspect they aren’t alone.

Stay tuned for more info on Until Dawn, but in the meantime watch our new trailer and let us know what you think!

Until Dawn is coming to PS5 and Steam. The Steam page is here:

The game is a remastered version of the original game and not a straight port of the PS4 original: ... nuary-2024

Carli Veccoli wrote:After a couple weeks of rumors, Sony finally confirmed that an Until Dawn remaster is in the works at its January 2024 State of Play on Wednesday, with an expected release in 2025.

The trailer features some visually upgraded footage, including a shot of Hayden Panettiere’s character at the end. However, most of it is filled with shots of Until Dawn iconography, including a hot tub, a wet footprint on a hardwood floor, and a creepy dollhouse.

The remaster will be coming to PlayStation 5 and PC, although it’s unclear if both versions are set to drop on the same day. Ballistic Moon looks to be handling development. The PC port has been rumored to be developed by Virtuos, an outsourcing studio that has worked on some massive games, including The Outer Worlds, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and Horizon Zero Dawn.

The article mentions that the game will release in 2025, but the Steam page for the game says the game should come out in 2024...
