[Wii] [PS2] Kiki Kai World

Unread postby icycalm » 02 Sep 2007 01:54

Kiki Kaikai 2 was originally slated for a March 2007 release, then delayed to summer, but was eventually reported by Famitsu as cancelled. At that point Star Fish replaced the game's official site with an apology page:

Two early previews from December 2006 showing how great the game looked:

And now a product page on Amazon and a blog post on Wired reveal that, though Kiki Kaikai 2 is not to be revived, a new game called Kiki Kai World is in the works for PS2 and Wii which will ostensibly be its "spiritual successor" (though in fact it will be basically the same game with a different title). From the Wired post:

The new game will be released in the US on both the PlayStation 2 and Wii. The PS2 version is currently scheduled for a December release, with the Wii version arriving early next year. The game will also be released on both platforms in Japan.

A major point of contention seems to be whether the game will include support for digital controls or not.

Meanwhile, the Japanese release dates are still unknown.

I'm one of the best fans of Supernes KikiKaikai Ninja. I don't have a good feeling about this new one but waiting for it, though.

I'm praying they allow for alternate (non-analog) controls if they decide to go that route. I'd much rather have a lock/strafe button or something.
