Arcade games: Where to buy?

Unread postby Hayama Akito » 01 Jan 2007 23:53

I guess that is always better to try to buy Arcade PCB and full machines in your local stores, because Arcade gaming is always expensive and the shipping is always expensive to hell, but... has anyone know good international arcade stores? like CoinOpExpress?

I want to buy a CPS3 with Third Strike...

I use Excellent Com, among others. They operate out of Hong Kong. Their website sucks and is never updated, so you have to email them to add you to their mailing list.

http://www.excellentcom.net/

I also know several stores in Japan, G-Front and Mak Japan being the two biggest ones, right in Akihabara. It's kind of hard to order from them if you don't speak Japanese though...

I actually wrote about those two stores a while back:

http://insomnia.ac/japan/mak_japan_and_g-front

At some point I plan to make a complete list of PCB stores and post it in the archive. Possibly in about a month or two...

So if you have severe asthma problems you can't go on flights in general, or just long-haul flights?

Either way, that sucks. But don't worry about it -- you are not missing too much.

If you mean pictures like this one, then indeed you are missing heaven. If you mean the pictures of the game shops I would have to disagree. But of course different people have different views of what heaven looks like.

And yeah, I still visit these shops regularly when I am in Tokyo. I've bought a bunch of stuff from them as well -- most recently several Neo Geo MVS carts.

How do you like the mvs?
Do you play on a supergun or on a cab?
I have 2 Neo candys out of my 5 cabs and the Neo's are the ones that give me the most headaches :(

The MVS is nice because you can easily get an RGB signal from it and because the games are dirt cheap. However I still use an AES and a top-loading Neo Geo CD system for everyday gaming. I've lived in a tiny apartment in Tokyo for years, so I've had no space for anything fancy. In about 3-4 months though I am moving to France for good, and then I'll get a Sigma supergun, and perhaps an Egret 3 or a New Net City.

Normal, I'd say. There were good things, and then there were bad things. It's quite a complex subject.

Reviewing games!

I'll still be going back perhaps once or twice a year. At least for as long as I can afford it.

Hi, thanks for joining the forum.

Which part of France are you from? I'll probably be moving to Lyon.

I don't really have any pressing questions to ask, since I've already lived in France on and off for about a year, but I'll keep your offer in mind.

The first time I lived in France I was in Briancon for 4 months, and I had opened up a chalet for snowboarders from the UK.

The other times I stayed in Lyon for 1-2 months at a time, and I was writing a book. So I never actually worked for a French employer.

And yeah, the food in Lyon is great. It's one of the prettiest cities I've ever seen. The girls are hot too.

3 months there,3 months elsewhere etc I know these situations :) Well i'm living in Antibes, one of the biggest touristic seaports. So we've got a lotta anglosaxon folks in here, hanging out in the streets or bars(of course)on their free time, after their work on the boats. And we do have some random snowboard/sportwear shops (Alps aren't far away),whose most regular customers/pigeons are from UK.

I've been lucky enough to visit Japan three times and i wish i'll go again quite soon.My G/F is japanese so it will certainly happen.Still,i have to shake up my booty and start learning japanese language asap. What about yours?

I'm missing my Yoshinoya... sigh

Perversely, I am better at reading/writing Japanese than listening/speaking. I try to study 2-3 hours a week, but since I move around a lot that's not always possible. I'll get there one day, though.

Yoshinoya is... um, no comment.

That's true, I guess.

Still, if I was short on money I'd probably just boil noodles or something.
