[DS] Hokuto no Ken ~Hokuto Shinken Denshousha no Michi~

Seems like a cross between a manga and QTEs. You are basically reading story sequences as normal, but when action is needed or a fight comes up you have to "scratch" the indicated patterns with the stylus. May not be as bad as it sounds! It could at least be a bit more exciting than actually reading a manga, though it will also be a lot more expensive!

There's the Arcsy fighter for arcades and PS2, but as we know from the review on this site, it's nothing special.

That digital coloring looks horrible.

Well, it is the best HnK game yet, so there's that. And then -- glitches, poor balance and crap animation aside -- I do think it's a good 2D fighting game with its own unique character and flavor. Perhaps I should add another star to the score to make that more clear?

My comment meant that I wanted a traditional action game.

Imagine if Arc just took the existing sprites from their Hokuto fighter and made an arcade beat em up out of them. How good would that be.

But yeah I've played the fighting game a shitload. I got a mean Rei! Gotta love how he can combo into his Nanto Seiki Mouha off a freakin throw.

likely only as good as they made it, methinks :P

this ds manga-game-thing seems a bizarre piece of work. so, if you fail to scratch correctly, are you denied continued reading? or do they handle risk/reward in some other manner? i can only ponder until this deal comes out. it'll at least be interesting to see how the systems ultimately play out, regardless of whether or not it is ultimately enjoyable.

next, i want this done to a novel. you can't read past page 26 of mobey dick unless you scratch out the newly-added punctuation errors less than 1 minute after you first turn to that page. oh, or perhaps the bible - gotta scratch off malchus' ear before peter does...
