The official site for Cave's upcoming shooter recently opened:

http://www.cave.co.jp/gameonline/muchimuchi/

The line above the logo translates to: "pioneering, plump-style vertical scrolling shooting game". At the bottom it says that the "Pork Story" will be revealed on the 13th.

Also, the following pic of the game's promotional flyer for the upcoming AOU show has been making the rounds on the net:

A friend of mine on IC is saying that the illustrator will be this dude called Kawahiko:

Still waiting for a screenshot...

Hi Icy, long time no see... i was ill for three weeks, but im fine now, so im on the scene again =P

Well, i heard that this will be some kind of "Parodius of Cave", and i hope that is true... still the flyer seems to be a fully original title.

Lets wait for AOU!

I'd pay 20 bucks right now for a screenshot. AOU can't come soon enough.

Nah, the only thing we'll get on the 13th is the story, unfortunately. It says so in katakana inside the pig.

But AOU is next weekend, so it shouldn't be long before the first pics emerge.

Yeah, the usual Cave bullshit. They release these tiny screens and you can't tell what the hell is going on.

At least now we know they'll be using the same board.

having a chubby girl as the heroine is genius, in my opinion.

better than this loli paedo shit that's popular in the doujin scenes.

Actually chubby girls is just another popular complex in doujins, not as big as loli but still.

Personally I like the Japanese countryside environment.

Hayama, thanks for the images (both in this thread and in the Otomedius one), but from now on please make sure you always provide a link to the page where you got them from (I've edited your posts, adding the links myself this time).

Here's a video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0QTl89I4jI

Quick observations:

-very slow enemy bullets and weak attack patterns make it look incredibly easy -- I hope this is the easiest out of three selectable modes, otherwise, yeah

-nice big sprites that move very smoothly (from what I can make out)

-collectable items that look like the gold from Espgaluda and options that move like Reko's from Mushi Futari

-definitely an Ikeda game -- the guy must be a workaholic

I made a page for the game in the archive:

http://insomnia.ac/archive/games/custom ... muchipork/

There's a crystal-clear video of the first stage I grabbed from jiji of namako team (no idea where he stole it from), a clean scan of the flyer obtained from TWE from Shmups, and a couple of images stolen from Gpara. And a blurb I wrote for ignorant people stumbling onto the page from the internets.

Game looks great! I love the colors and the backgrounds and the enemies, but unfortunately there's only one mode, and it's just looking too damn easy.

And the funny thing is, the final versions of shooters that Cave releases are usually easier than the ones you see at location tests or trade shows!

Also, Cave's AOU page says that the game was voted second most popular at the show (Otomedius came first). Click for booth images:

Promotional video similar in style to the Mushi Futari one from the AM Show. Towards the end it shows a couple of latter stages.

Posted a new video in the archive, which shows a rather poor run up to the second boss. It's still a camcorder grab, but the quality is as good as it gets (at least from an LCD screen). WARNING: It's 500 MB, but worth it if you have a reasonably fast connection.

By the way, the annoying music in the video is NOT from the game. It's just a theme song that Cave came up with, similar to the one they did for Pink Sweets.

The best news though is that in the hi score table it says "futsuu no mode" which means "normal mode"! This is really awesome, awesome news, and it basically means that I'll make sure I am in Tokyo for whenever they release it. Can't wait!

Sexy Pigs! The more I read the more I wanna play it!I hope there will be a port of it for PS3, otherwise I will have to wait for 3 or 4 (or even more..) freaking years for a working MAME release.

Gamedevs are more cautious when building their hardware nowdays. For example Cave is encrypting the bullet patterns in a ROM chip. Capcom also used difficult to decrypt hardware for their CPS3 systems. Thus the problem is not only the emulation of a custom, not well documented chipset, but also the decryption of certain software parts. So don't hope for a MAME release any time soon...

Apparently so. One of the guys from Shmups was at the AOU and he is certain there's heavy rank involved.
