The list below is being compiled by Oxtsu on Shmups, and I am copy-pasting it here for quick reference. I'll also make sure to update this version whenever the original one gets updated.

Also, what I am going to do later today is go through it carefully and select my favorite game from each year, and post the resulting list in this thread. I'll also edit my list if I ever change my mind in the future (which is not entirely implausible -- after all, I still haven't tried ALL of these games). Feel free to do the same if you want.

I also had the shittiest day today. This is what happened:

1. I lost my national ID card.

2. I received three PS3 games from a store in Hong Kong (Game Choice Club), and they sent me different versions than those I had ordered (Jap/US/Asian).

3. I called Forthnet to increase the speed of my ADSL connection from 784kbps to 2Mbps, and they said it will take them 15 days to do it (which, in their language, means at least a month), and that I will also have to forfeit the six months that I prepaid. Fucking idiots. And then they wonder why this country's economy is so far back compared to those of other EU members.

ANYways, I am trying to think only of happy thoughts, otherwise I'll go out in the streets and start smashing stuff.


So I made my list. 2003 was the most difficult for me because Cave released both Espgaluda and Ketsui during that year. An impossible choice really, but that's what's fun about this exercise. It forces you to think hard about which games you really love the most. So here it goes:
