Namco Bandai is developing Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day, a PlayStation 3 game based on Katsuhiro Otomo’s Short Peace anime movie project, this week’s Japanese magazines reveal.
Scenario is being handled by Grasshopper Manufacture boss and Killer is Dead director Goichi Suda. The game is being directed by Crispy’s and Tokyo Jungle‘s Yohei Kataoka.
The “high-speed effect action” 2D side-scroller is considered the fifth part of Short Peace‘s four-story makeup. Its theme is modern-day Japan.
Short Peace will begin airing in Japanese theaters on July 20. A release date for Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day was not announced.

Famitsu this week revealed Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day, a new game from Grasshopper Manufacture boss Goichi Suda and Tokyo Jungle‘s developer Crispy’s based on Katsuhiro Otomo’s Short Peace anime movie. Famitsu.com has since gone up with an online preview, providing first details and screenshots for the upcoming side-scroller.
Story
Living alone in her multi-story parking lot, Ranko Tsukigime is the only daughter of the underground zaibatsu conglomerate Tsukigime Enterprises, which controls Japan’s Tsukigime Parking Lots. By day, Ranko is just like any other cheeky high school girl, but by night she’s a professional hitman. Today, too, Ranko is on her way to take out another target, but there lurks the magic hand of a rival syndicate.
Mix Culture = Mixture
The first game by Mix Culture, a project that mixes a variety of elements that symbolize Japan into games, is the action game Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day. Here we’ll take some time to introduce the system and concept of the game
High Speed Effects and Action
The game design, artwork, and direction will be headed by Tokyo Jungle game developer Crispy’s. What Crispy’s has developed is a new style of play, where you “defeat enemies with effects.” You play as Ranko Tsukigime as you evade the threatening rival syndicate and attempt to reach your objective. This is a side-scrolling 2D action game that anyone can enjoy. The fresh and new battle system, paired with the danger of gaming over if caught by your enemies, will bring a new experience that players have yet to encounter. Also, contrast to the regular stages, the team is also preparing levels full of giant enemies, and other fun things.
