Aside from some really annoying sound effects and the camera being perhaps a little too uncomfortably positioned, this looks promising. Though coming after Diablo III, it might fall short if the latter ends up raising the standards, as I hope it will. Stupid RPS commentary ahoy:

THE GAME

R.A.W. - Realms of Ancient War - is the new Hack’n’Slash (action/role-playing game) from Wizarbox, developed for Xbox LIVE® Arcade, PlayStation® Network and PC Digital.

This heroic-fantasy hack‘n’slash (action/role-playing game) takes you on a continent ravaged by a war that raged ten years earlier. The four Kingdoms of Men, Elves and Dwarves lay in ruins, preyed on by raiders and looters. In this chaos, a new, unknown threat is looming... To discover its true nature, the kingdoms sent detachments to investigate, a dangerous mission from which no one returned. But what about you? You, who were in the wrong place at the wrong time...

Take control of a powerful Warrior, a dark Sorcerer or a Rogue master of stealth, and plunge into a grand quest full of action! The world of R.A.W. leads you, alone or in 2-player co-op, through many levels as rich and varied in every corner of the continent.

Along your quest, the experience gained through the violent battles you will fight and the weapons and magic items you will loot on the lifeless bodies of your opponents will allow you to develop the power your chosen character. You will learn new powers and spells ever more devastating, some of which, when mastered, will allow you to inflict tremendous damage and eradicate several dozens of enemies at once… as they will often rally in hordes to fight you!

All the power you will be granted will not be too much to exterminate your outnumbering enemies. Thanks to your new-found gift of incarnation, you will even be able to take direct control of the body of your most powerful foes, seeding discord and destruction right at the heart of enemy armies!

INCARNATION

In R.A.W., you are constantly outnumbered... tough call, it's not a few dozens of daemons that will make you flinch. But sometimes, even the most fearsome warrior, or the most powerful sorcerer will be overwhelmed. The fusion of the King of the North's mind with yours granted you an incredibly useful power: the gift of incarnation.

During battle, some of your most fearsome enemies, once weakened, will leave a rift to their mind wide open... take this opportunity to take control of them! Ents, 12-foot tall daemons, Trolls, and other enormous creatures, these dangerous monsters will become avatars for your mind. Once you take control of them, you'll be free to seed destruction and death among the enemies' ranks, making it easier to annihilate your enemies once your mind returns to your body!

COOP MODE

Play the adventure with a friend! R.A.W. is playable in coop-mode, and at any time of your play, a friend may join you to give you a hand to face together the assaults of hordes of monsters growing stronger, and help you fulfill your quest!

Make good use of your team's strengths: for example, while the Warrior is engaging the enemy in melee battle to attract their attention, the Wizard is free to cast his most powerful spells in safety!

UNIVERSE

In the North, lays the Kingdom of wind and spirit. In the East, that of fire and strength. In the West, travelers will find the kingdom of earth and wisdom and in the south, the Kingdom of water and courage.

Long ago, the four kingdoms of men, dwarves and elves were torn apart in a violent war. A brittle peace has been established 10 years ago during the mysterious "Summoning of the Kings".

But today, the world is on the verge of entering war again, as hordes of Nothingness are pouring through portals across all four Kingdoms. The Kings have sent detachments of soldiers to investigate the origin of this new threat... none ever returned.

This all seemed so far away from you. But it is you that the King of the North has chosen, to open the four Portals and put an end to the evil forces, once and for all!


THE WARRIOR

Courageous and hot-headed, the Warrior loves charging his enemies... often ending knee-deep in trouble. When a guard patrol vanished around the village where his garrison was attached, it was without a second thought he went out searching for them. If no survivor was to be found, the hordes of creatures responsible for the bloodbath were there... waiting for him.

Expert in close combat, the Warrior thrives at the very heart of the battle, where is will swing his dual blades with power and speed. His powerful melee attacks are devastating to anyone standing around him. And when his life goes down, bloody rage embraces him to make him more powerful, more resilient, enabling him to cause even more damage... there is nothing more dangerous than a wounded animal.

THE WIZARD

It was an artifact hunt like every other for the Wizard: a forgotten, creepy crypt, crawling with giant spiders, living-dead skeletons, and liches guarding an ancient scroll of forbidden magic. This would have been daily grind for the Wizard, if it had not been interrupted by the sudden invasion of the Nothingness' servants.

The Wizard masters the natural elements and may unleash lightning, torrents of flames, tornadoes and waves of pure energy... as long as his mana pool is full. All the talent of the Wizard is expressed at long range, where he decimates entire armies with devastating spells, inflicting more damage than what the Warrior or the Rogue could deal. However, such power has a drawback: the Wizard is the most fragile of the heroes, and he will not stand very long if the enemy reaches him.

THE ROGUE

The Rogue's story starts at night, in the dark forests of the Wild Valley. As she was hunting a starving pack of wolves, hordes of Nothingness poured from nowhere, forcing her to retreat to the only apparent way out: a strange, magical portal. Rushing head-down through her last chance of survival, she emerged at the very heart of the Temple of Heroes, facing the King of the North.

The Rogue is a polyvalent and cunning young woman. She masters bow and daggers with equal virtuosity, allowing her to be as lethal in close combat than at range. However, her leather armor and average constitution do not fare very well in lengthy fights against numerous foes. Therefore, she will use her stealth abilities, traps and dirty tricks to ensure she gets to fight who (or what) she wants, when she sees fit.
