Falcom said they had a surprise for The Legend of Heroes fans and just announced a brand new game connected to the Trails in the Sky series. The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Flash (Sen no Kiseki) is in development for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Flash has a new battle system dubbed the Tactic Link System. Players still pick commands to fight, but it’s designed to be fast. Players will overwhelm enemies with the strength of their bonds. The game also has an active voice system so you’ll hear voices everywhere when you’re walking around and you can overhear conversations while in town. Falcom added a free camera you can rotate 360 degrees to check out the map.

Oh, and of course The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Flash has been improved dramatically on the visual side with HD graphics.

Dengeki PlayStation this week lifts the lid on the four protagonists of Falcom’s upcoming PlayStation 3 and PS Vita RPG The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki.



Rin Yubalshia: A 17-year-old male swordsman who uses a long sword, Hachiyou Ittou style. His teacher’s name is Yun Kafei, whose grandchild is Trails in the Sky‘s Anelace Elfead.



Alisa Leinfort: A 17-year-old blonde female archer, and a young lady from the Leinfort company, where her mother is president. She has a determined, but soft personality.



Elliot Greig: A 16-year-old wielder of the sorcerers staff. He seems to be related to Tio’s family line and uses Tio’s staff. He is described as the complete opposite of a nice child. Quote: “Eheheh, did you get a little excited?”



Laura S. Alzeido: A 17-year-old two-handed sword wielder. She is the daughter of Viscount Asuzeido and an acquaintance of Muller Vander. Like the Vanders, Laura comes from a military family. She can also be a little bit naive. Quote: “Why does thou not make a serious effort?”

Outside of the four protagonists, the magazine also has details on other game systems.

There will be tanks, airships, trains, motorcycles, cable cars, and horses.
There is a dungeon called Komorebi Dungeon.
The school is revealed. Students’ uniform colors are determined by their social status.
Heimdall is the name of the imperial capital.
There is a military officer academy called Toruzu. Trails in the Sky‘s Olivier seems to be the board chairman.
The game seems to be set in eastern Elebonia.
There are a large number of wonderfully drawn cities characteristic of the series.
The self-governed state of Crossbell and the Galbard Republic can be found on the map.
The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki is due out this year in Japan.

Famitsu this week revealed new details and four new characters for The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki, Falcom’s upcoming PlayStation 3 and PS Vita RPG sequel.

Characters

Eusis Albalea (ユーシス・アルバレア) – Weapon: Knight sword. Age: 17. Has blonde hair and blue eyes. He is the second son of the Duke of Albalea (アルバレア), whose family rules the Eastern part of the province of Croitsen (クロイツェン) as one of the four great noble families. He displays aristocratic pride, but without ill will. He is always butting heads with Machias. He uses a traditional royal fencing style, but has interest in others as well.

Machias Legnitts (マキアス・レーグニッツ) – Weapon: Shotgun. Age: 17. Has black hair and wears glasses. He is the son of the current governor of the imperial capital Legnitts, who is a member of the reformist group. He is hostile towards the aristocracy and the noble students. He is hard on himself and others, and is going to be the vice chairman of Class VII.

Headmaster Vandyke (ヴァンダイク学院長) – Age: 70. Weapon: Zanbato. Has slicked back, white hair. An honorable general of the imperial army, he is almost two meters tall (about 6′ 6″). He is cooperating with the imperial family to back up the establishment of Class VII by gathering superior talent.

Sarah Ballestein (サラ・バレスタイン) – Age: 25. Weapon: Orbal gun and blade. Has red hair tied up in the back. In charge of leading Class VII, she is an instructor with outstanding combat ability. If she stays quiet, she is beautiful, but her private life is kind of a mess. She says herself that she has a thing for nice-looking middle-aged guys.

Neighbor Town Trista

A town 20 minutes east of Imperial Capital Heimdallr, if you take the rail. Thors Military Academy is on the north side of town, so it also has a student town feel.

Some of the town’s facilities include: book store “Keanzu Bookshop” (ケアンズ書房), orbal radio station “Trista Broadcasting” (トリスタ放送局), rail station “Trista Station” (トリスタ駅), pawn shop “Mihyuto” (ミヒュト), church “Trista Chapel” (トリスタ礼拝堂), and fashion boutique “Le Sage” (ル・サージュ).

Because seasons change as you progress through the game, the clothing available in the boutique will also change.

There is a spot for fishing.

Trista Radio

You can listen to the radio during the game.

Trista Broadcasting was established throughout the empire via the cooperation of Desk and Reinford under the Imperial News company.

Imperial News was the agency preferred by the nobles, but there is some confusion evident as they’ve reported positively on the prime minister’s reformation. They’ve put pressure on Trista Broadcasting.

Thors Military Academy Class VII

A special class founded to make use of the new style tactics orbment “Arcus.”

Other reasons for the class’ establishment seems to be told within the game.

Students chosen for the class are not selected by social status. There are students from abroad, too.

The school has recognized the independence of these students to some extent, and has allowed them to each dress slightly different.

Emma Milstein (エマ・ミルスティン): The committee chairwoman of Class VII. A woman with long braided hair, she wears glasses and makes a calm impression. Her weapon is a magic staff. She is a commoner from a remote part of the empire but was accepted into Thors Military Academy due to its enriched scholarship system. She is a helpful and trusted person, and has a wealth of knowledge about herbs. She’s also secretly keeping a cat.

Phi Crauzel (フィー・クラウゼル): A girl with short silver hair and a student in Class VII. She has an unknown background, and at age 15, is younger than her friends. She’ll sleep anywhere. She wields dual pistols fitted with bayonets.

Elise Schwartzer (エリゼ・シュバルツァー): Rean’s younger sister and the biological daughter of Baron. She has dark purple hair. For a year, she has been attending St. Astoria Girl’s College (for girls from good blood) in the imperial capital Heimdall. She had always treated Rean as a true sibling, but has gradually started to take on a colder attitude towards him.

Lieutenant Nighthalt (ナイトハルト少佐): A lieutenant transferred from the regular army to the Thors Military Academy to become a military affairs instructor. He’s serious, lacks sociability, and supposedly does not get along with the homeroom teacher of Class VII.
