And here is my ranking of those I've played so far, with my current progress in parenthesis:
Grand Theft Auto III ***** (Cleared)
Grand Theft Auto IV *** (~5 hrs.)
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas *** (~3 hrs.)
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City *** (~half-way through)
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars ** (~4 hrs.)
I am planning to keep playing until I clear IV; San Andreas I would like to play more (the three or so hours I have in it were played on a friend's Xbox years and years ago, and that was the reason I stopped playing -- I didn't get bored with it, or at least I didn't get the change to get bored with it...); Vice City I doubt I'll ever touch again; ditto Chinatown Wars.
Apart from these I'd like to check out the PSP games, but I doubt they'll be any better than Vice City or San Andreas -- most probably they'll be worse.
What we really need, given Rockstar's utter inability to top III, or even get anywhere near its greatness for that matter, is a Grand Theft Auto III Sigma-type deal: a glorious 720p or 1080p remake. If that doesn't happen I will no doubt sooner or later end up replaying the original, most probably in its PS2 iteration, because I hear the Xbox and PC ports suck in various wonderful ways (the PC less than the Xbox, I think).
