Heh, first boss is taken straight from Night Slave and behaves in the same way:

Played the demo, superb stuff. Explosion effects look shitty but apart from that all the 2D art looks great, and the mech designs are really cool.

Obviously another game completely based on the Valken design, and of course has lots of elements from both Leynoss 2 and Night Slave.

The most amazing part of this game though is that it seems to be a full commercial game, not a doujin. For non-adult PC games in Japan I can only think of companies like System Soft Alpha, Kogado, Falcom, and a few others still making them, so this new company 'Dracue' is definitely a team to keep an eye on. Just from the demo it can be seen that this is an extremely high quality 2D action game, so they could have easily taken the Night Slave route and thrown in a few porn pics here and there and marketed the game in the much more lucrative eroge field where it easily, and I do mean much more easily, would be able to sell an absolute shitload more. The company definitely has balls that for sure, although the retail price of the game is equal to a console game, not in the standard 10k yen range of PC software in Japan.

Also, The game definitely deserves better box cover art than what its getting, ughh.

Bonus! A complete list of all "Valken-Style" games, that use the Valken template of unique mech control that really simulates the weight of the machine, and the dramatic aspects that happen throughout stages. The first Leynoss is listed for completeness sake but Valken is really what created the template that all the succeeding games essentially used.

Assault Suit Leynoss (1990, NCS)
Assault Suit Valken (1992, NCS)
Metal Warriors (1995, Lucas Arts)
Front Mission: Gun Hazard (1996, Omiya Soft/Squaresoft)
Night Slave (1996, Melody)
Assault Suit Leynoss 2 (1997, NCS)
Kisou Ryouhei Gunhound (2009, Dracue)

I got it a few months ago when it was released and while it is good, it doesn't come anywhere near Valken or Night Slave due to having pretty uninteresting stages.

The first stage is promising and the final stage is cool (though super short), but the rest just feels like filler. Nothing coming close to the spectacular stage 3 in Valken for example, or really any of its other stages now that I think about it.

2 years later, Dracue returns with a new game Gunhound X, which as the name somewhat implies is more of a powered up version of the first Gunhound.

The original Gunhound was a good Valken inspired action game, but my biggest problems with is was that is was way too short, and only the first and last stages were really all that interesting. Judging from the beta of Gunhound X though it looks to have much, much more potential.

Demo and info of Gunhound X can be seen here http://labs.dracue.co.jp/

The demo has the first stage, which is essentially the same first stage from the original Gunhound, but there is heaps more fanciness. The visuals have been changed/improved in many areas, there are new enemies, lots more mini bosses, the interface looks more slick etc. Definitely have to keep an eye out for this.

The beta demo is very early though, you cant even change most of the options or settings yet (which of course means no widescreen mode yet, like the original Gunhound had)

Dracue also announced they are developing a 3DS game, though I cant say i'm all that interested in what it could be.
