"Call of Duty 2013" takes place in the Modern Warfare arc and the main character in the game is "a battle hardened veteran in his mid-thirties with a nihilistic point of view."

Here are some of the lines "Ben Burke" (which we’re told is a codename) has to recite in Call of Duty 2013.

"Reminds you of Phuket, doesn’t it? Only this time the dust gives you cancer… OK, park yourself and get ready. When this thing kicks off, put a hole in anything that moves."

"This is Sentinel Zero One, successful crypto change on C2 net break, requesting immediate update of blue force picture and status of artillery, over. I have you broken and unreadable, I say again, requesting updates to friendly positions and status of arty support. Do you read, over?"

"We’ve got KVA on the move! They’re going to strongpoint the main gate, ETA two mikes! We’re providing support for our heavy rollers! Ready up and let’s move!"

"Goliath, this is Sentinel Zero One! We have enemy armor at the gate, hundred meters north of our position! Requesting close-air grid mark three-one-six!"

Another scene that was recorded took place in Somalia with John "Soap" MacTavish, which as we understand is a flashback.

The details come from the same source that leaked portions of the Sleeping Dogs, or as it was known back then True Crime: Hong Kong, script before Square Enix acquired the title.

Rumor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQBprYUW3gk#!

http://gematsu.com/2013/03/rumor-next-g ... l-on-may-1

Development on a next-generation Call of Duty is purportedly underway, according to community commentator Drift0r, who claims to have a subscriber whom is “part of the Call of Duty machine” in a video on YouTube.

Titled Call of Duty: Ghosts, the game is said to be a branch of the Modern Warfare series. Not unlike Black Ops 2, the title will be set in the future, although an event forces its protagonists to use current-day weaponry.

Ghosts, which is prepped for a May 1 reveal according to the video, will not be released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but instead on PC, PlayStation 4, and the next Xbox.

Among various gameplay details for both campaign and multiplayer, Call of Duty: Ghosts—it’s claimed—will feature dynamic loading screens—such as allowing players to rappel into a map—new prone mechanics, such as rolling, corner-peeking, which is already present in the PC version’s more recent entries, and will introduce the ability to “dash into sliding while shooting.”

Infinity Ward is also said to be prototyping destructible environments, although are said to be struggling to successfully integrate it with the game’s multiplayer component. Spec Ops, a series of co-operative missions in the Modern Warfare series, is also set to be replaced with something new.

“The next CoD game will be called ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts‘ and not Modern Warfare 4 or MW4,” wrote Drift0r in the video below. “This new title as well as single player and multiplayer details were leaked to me from a very legitimate source.”

“Typically I would not post videos like this but I completely trust this source. This video contains info about the story, and some multiplayer inclusions.”

Activision has confirmed Call of Duty: Ghosts, the next entry in its top-selling shooter franchise, for a November 5 release across PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. It is also in development for “next generation consoles.”

“Ghosts delivers an all-new story, all-new characters, an all-new Call of Duty world, all powered by a next generation Call of Duty engine, which is a leap forward for the franchise,” said Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg.

Modern Warfare developers Infinity Ward are at the helm. According to executive producer Mark Rubin, the console transition served as the “perfect opportunity” to build a new sub-brand and engine for the franchise.

A teaser trailer, dubbed “Masked Warriors,” was released today, but a full reveal is scheduled for May 21 during the next-gen Xbox press conference.

Executive producer Mark Rubin on COD:
http://www.officialplaystationmagazine. ... cod-story/

Leon Hurley wrote:When it comes to broader changes to the series’ gameplay or other mechanics Rubin likened Call Of Duty to a sport: “You watch sports every year, but if you changed the rules dramatically of a sport every year who would watch that? I don’t think you would have as many people watching the sport. Like if soccer/football were all the sudden to switch from ‘OK you can’t use your feet, you have to use your hands’ Who’d watch that really?”

“You can’t change the rules too much, you have to sort of live within the boundaries that you created for yourself,” he explains. “Other games can do that. They can do and go try out other new features and that’s totally cool because as a gamer I like to play a lot of games. So I’ll go out and play that open-ended open-world type game and I love it.” For COD, in the time being, Rubin says, “I think we sort of stay with what we have perfected – that sort of cinematic immersive experience. We are going to stick with that”.

Activision and Infinity Ward have revealed ‘Extinction,’ a new one to four-player cooperative game mode for Call of Duty: Ghosts.

The alien elimination mode features a “unique blend of fast-paced survival action, FPS base defense, scavenging, and class leveling,” according to Activision.

What I find funny about this sort of thing is that this still says nothing about which version will be superior. Maybe the PS4 version will manage 1080p by turning all the detail settings down to minimum and the One version will be still be superior, who knows.

Digital Foundry is calling this and the Battlefield 4 console situation the "Resolutiongate": http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digit ... he-fallout

Richard Leadbetter wrote:As the metrics emerge on key next-gen launch titles, it's clear that Xbox One is under-performing against its rival - not just according to the spec differential, but actually beyond the difference in raw numbers. Our Battlefield 4 Face-Off preview reveals a 50 per cent resolution boost on PlayStation 4 with no appreciable compromise in effects or performance in single-player gameplay, while Infinity Ward's Mark Rubin confirmed rumours that Call of Duty: Ghosts runs at native 720p on Xbox One, with 1080p a lock for PS4. Assuming uniform features and performance, that's a massive blow for Microsoft.

Call of Duty: Ghosts earned $1 billion in revenue on its first day of release, Activision has announced.

Congratulations, Infinity Ward! Not everyone is so thrilled with this accomplishment, however and many have taken to laughing at a very brief series of animations that resemble a similar scene from Modern Warfare 2.

Comparison video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5E82ZkHTiVU

It's a good thing Infinity Ward doesn't listen to this kind of nonsense. I take it these people wouldn't be happy unless Infinity Ward scrapped every single animation and went back to the drawing board for each new game. Perhaps they'd finally give their seal of approval if only the soldiers would ditch their old animations and innovatively run into the battlefield on all fours instead. Just so long as they didn't reuse Ghosts's dog animations.

An Infinity Ward developer, now working at Respawn Entertainment, shared his thoughts on these controversial animations.

Argonomic wrote:I scripted the original scene in MW2 and co-directed those animations.

Reuse is important to making a good game. Players focus varies, and it is only through reuse that you can reasonably guarantee that an asset will even be noticed. The "animated credits" in CoD1 exists partially to insure that players actually got to see the animations in the game.

Making good games is often about how you prioritize your time. You want to spend as much as possible on the things players will appreciate. You could make a different "open the door" anim for each door in the game, but that will not be appreciated as much as putting in new and different gameplay. So you reuse where you can.

That being said, this case of reuse is not the same as the above, because the reuse is of a custom, signature moment from an early game's story. That would be find if it were a flash back, I suppose.

I suppose that makes me a Ghost writer.

Here's Digital Foundry's face-off comparison of the PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U versions of the game: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digit ... s-face-off

David Bierton wrote:Last year's Black Ops 2 dared to rewrite some of the Call of Duty rulebook, in the process firmly showing that Treyarch is more than willing to shake up the franchise to keep things from appearing too stale. But besides the increase in graphical spectacle and a few underused ideas we never get a sense that series creator Infinity Ward is looking to expand past its comfort zone in Ghosts. Instead, the gameplay is bolstered by new mechanics that are quickly introduced and then discarded for the rest of the game - such as the introduction of the remote sniper in an early mission, and the inclusion of attack dog Riley, who can be completely forgotten after the game is done using him to advance the wafer-thin plot. Meanwhile, the multiplayer modes are starting to lose some of their lustre, especially when compared to the dynamic environments and vehicular combat of the Battlefield games.

In that sense, the Call of Duty series really needs to evolve in future instalments, taking advantage of the additional power afforded by the next-generation consoles and top-end PC to deliver more than just a bigger bang and prettier pictures, but instead ways to make the blockbuster spectacle feel meaningful again. However, from a technological perspective, Infinity Ward has arguably proven that its underlying engine is ready for next-generation deployment with Call of Duty: Ghosts, even if the sheer number of advanced rendering features fails to match true next-gen titles such as Battlefield 4 and Killzone: Shadow Fall. In that sense it's still a cross-generation game, but one that makes a concerted effort to deliver a meaningful upgrade over the sub-HD current console versions.

In that respect, the PC version represents a huge leap above the console editions and gives us a good idea of what to expect from the upcoming PS4 and XO releases. If you're planning on getting either next-gen console at launch and haven't taken the plunge with Call of Duty: Ghosts on the 360, PS3 or Wii U, we'd certainly suggest holding out a little longer as the graphical upgrade appears worthwhile. Of course the issue of Xbox One's 720p resolution and PlayStation 4's alleged frame-rate problems are still looming with regards to the game - a state of affairs that we are keen to address when we finally get our hands on both consoles in the coming days.

In the here and now, the current-gen Call of Duty experience is best delivered on the 360, followed quite closely by the PS3 version, where stable multiplayer performance is backed up by a campaign that still delivers a good slice of 60fps action, even if frame-rates aren't quite as smooth as on Microsoft's platform. However, the soft-focused look doesn't represent the game in its best light in comparison to the sharper and cleaner 360 release, while the texture bugs are disappointing to see. The real letdown comes with the Wii U version, which sees owners of Nintendo's console once again left with a sub-par experience marred by frequent frame-rate issues and some pretty striking texture quality problems that makes it hard to recommend when both 360 and PS3 offer up smoother gameplay and more enjoyable online play as a result.

http://www.vg247.com/2013/11/21/call-of ... y-mistake/

Call of Duty: Ghosts publisher Activision may have just let slip the names of the shooter’s four DLC map packs.

It follows the leaking of Call of Duty: Ghosts DLC’s individual maps, including Modern Warfare 3′s Dome. Check the list of names out through the link.

Fariko_Scorch received an email regarding Ghost’s season pass content, and it led to the following image:

Note the names in the middle. They spell out ODIN, which is the deadly orbital strike platform found in the campaign.

Said image was promptly taken offline by Activision, suggesting it was released in error.

What do you make of the above?
