What's this? A new Shooting game from Konami and IN ARCADES?

Seems it will be a horizontal shooting game. Otome (damsel) + Parodius!

First time I see that cab. What's up with the tiny screen?

Great news, though. I wonder what hardware it's running on.

Looks a lot like Parodius with the Gradius power-up system. There's supposedly some touch-screen lock-on mechanic.

DS port? Heh just kidding, DS couldn't handle its large sprites anyway and thank God STG developers don't port these games for handhelds.

Nice turtle boss, heh!

This apparently is coming to the 360 as Otomedius G, the 'G' probably signifying some slight changes, to account for the loss of the touch screen. It was first listed by mistake on Konami's website, then it got picked up by Xbox News and then Danmaku Gata, while in the meantime Konami took down the listing, which has now been archived here:

You need to click through to see it.

Official sites:

http://www.konami.jp/am/otome/
http://www.konami.jp/products/am_otome/
http://www.konami.jp/products/otome_g/

The third site offers an explanation for the 360's multiplayer aspect:

プレイ人数:1人(バーサスモードのみ1~3人)

This means that the regular game will be single-player only (like the arcade), and there will also be a "versus" mode with up to three players. No idea how that will work out.

And a Famitsu preview answers the question of the aspect ratio:

It's strange that there are practically no STGs on the DS. You could argue about suitability but that doesn't explain why there are hundreds for mobile phone.

There's nothing to argue about. Arcade-style games have to be butchered to work on the DS. Enough of them have been butchered already, and many more will follow in the coming years. The reason there are not many DS shooters yet is because very few people are prepared to pay full-price for these kinds of games nowadays. On cellphones, meanwhile, games cost like two dollars.

Does anyone know if the port will be retail or an XBLA title?

It will of course be retail. New arcade games never receive their first port on XBLA.

bummer....

so, no Raiden Fighters Aces, no DOJ, no Ketsui and no Otomedius G? OMFG
why did microsoft said no to DOJ and Ketsui on XBLA? although, from the screens of the retail version, those titles will be crappy ports.

Well, we westerners still have triggerheart and ikaruga :D

Any of those games you listed could be picked up somewhere down the line for localisation. No one expected the Senko no Ronde localisation, for example, but it eventually happened.

You Westerners have everything, as long as you are prepared to spend a couple hundred extra bucks.

Also, please capitalize your sentences properly (as well as game titles -- it's "Triggerheart" and "Ikaruga"") otherwise you'll force me to ban you. I am sorry but I don't have the time to edit every post you make.
