How many STG OSTs do you own? I only own Ibara's.

I thought Galbadia was gone. Nice to see it's back. Anyhow, what do you recommend listening to off this besides Cave OSTs and Axelay?

Unfortunately, I do not own any STG OSTs and the only soundtracks I've downloaded from that site were Cave's (excluding Side-Arms) so I don't really have any recommendations for you. However, I will check out Axelay so thank you for the recommendation.

I'd recommend Battle Garegga, although it's early Namiki I think it was great. Stages 1, 4 and 5 are my favorites.

A few STG OSTs of some interest.

Some games have as good (if not better) music on ports. That's why I sometimes list the ports too. For the rest, you'd much better stick to the original.

1986 - Slap Fight (Arcade)
1986 - Silpheed (PC-88)
1987 - R-Type (Arcade)
1989 - Mega Blast (Arcade)
1990 - Gun Frontier (Arcade)
1990 - Out Zone (Arcade)
1990 - Raiden (Arcade)
1991 - Metal Black (Arcade)
1992 - Viewpoint (Arcade)
1992 - Summer Carnival '92 - Recca (Famicom)
1993 - In The Hunt (Arcade)
1993 - Gunlock / Ray Force (Arcade)
1993 - Hyper Duel (Arcade)
1993 - Silpheed (Mega-CD)
1994 - Darius Gaiden (Arcade)
1995 - Gekirindan (Arcade)
1995 - Pulstar (Arcade)
1995 - Strikers 1945 (Arcade)
1995 - Donpachi (Arcade)
1996 - Battle Garegga (Arcade)
1996 - Sexy Parodius (Arcade)

1997 - Dodonpachi (Arcade)
1998 - Battle Garegga (Saturn)
1998 - Armed Police Batrider (Arcade)
1998 - Cyvern (Arcade)
1998 - Dangun Feveron (Arcade)

2001 - Progear no Arashi (Arcade)
2001 - Ikaruga (Arcade)
2001 - Silpheed: The Lost Planet (PS2)
2002 - Dodonpachi Daioujou (Arcade)
2003 - R-Type Final (PS2)
2003 - Ketsui: Kizuna Jigokutachi (Arcade)
2003 - Border Down (Arcade)
2003 - Shikigami no Shiro II (Arcade)

2007 - Muchi Muchi Pork (Arcade)
2007 - Death Smiles (Arcade)
2008 - Dodonpachi: Daifukkatsu (Arcade)

The highlights of the list may be Battle Garrega, Mushihime-sama, DDP DOJ, Ketsui, DDP: Daifukkatsu, Border Down, Senko no Ronde, Radiant Silvergun, Soukyugurentai and Gradius V. So, to sum it up: you should listen to Hitoshi Sakimoto, Yasuhisa Watanabe and Manabu Namiki.

P.S.: I don't know much about console-only STGs. Suggestions would be welcome.

I edited about half a dozen "STGs" out of your list. Like, for example, WONDER BOY III.

What are you trying to do: give people a reason to make fun of my website? If you were a new poster you'd have been immediately banned for this. Whoever thinks that Space Harrier or Galaxy Force II or FUCKING WONDER BOY III are STGs has no business posting here.

The soundtrack to Karous would be a worthy addition to this list. For the electronic music nerd, the genre is called "Breakcore" - a fusion of jungle, drum & bass, and hardcore. The soundtrack is composed by Kou Hayashi and Daisuke Nagata, who oddly enough haven't created another video game soundtrack that was as pleasing to the ear.

HI, I'm a big of Namiki, ZUNTATA, K.H.D.N. I agree with antman811, you should check the STG music thread of FFshrine (I'm a big friend of Simon), I've been uploading some CDs there too.

BTW, Ketsui Arrange Album, is already there XD
