So, I got this two days ago and from all the buzz, some positive remarks from people who had already played it and my love for Uncharted 2 I had pretty high expectations.

So, I played through it in a single day, without even being that excessive about it. But boy, was that a letdown.

Uncharted 3 looks amazing, has a brilliant score, fleshed out characters and the best acting in a videogame ever. But that's were my praise ends.

The plot is unimaginative, riddled with holes and as generic as possible. You jump from place to place, there's no continuity and often I found myself wondering what exactly I was after right now. There are some nice twists and tricks but these can't save the overall blandness.

This far I could have talked about a movie, but we're dealing with a game here and this is where Uncharted 3 falls apart completely. Naughty Dog massively scaled back on exploration and puzzles and puts much more emphasis on the fighting.

Unfortunately the fights suck. Hard. It's the complete randomness that make videogames unbearable and it's all over the place in this game. See, they "improved" the close combat mechanics in this game, and as a consequence decided to have enemies run up to you all the time. So you're getting swarmed by dudes in full body armor which can take 2 entire mags into their head, running up to you so you can play the fist fight minigame. At the same time, some regular dudes run around and shoot you while some asshole up on a balcony one-shots you with his RPG or Grenade launcher.

It's just no fun. It's an endurance contest, you against random enemy behaviour where skill does barely count. You fail the first time, in your next try you take out the Bazooka-Wankers first and just punch punch punch everyone else until there a no more reinforcements.

I don't know. Seems like they try to be Gears of War but didn't quite get what makes Gears Gears. It didn't challenge, it just made me angry and turn down the difficulty to "very easy".

Uncharted 3 also features numerous action sequences where you are running from some threat, but TOWARDS the camera. This is super cool because you can't see shit and then you die and try again until you know where you supposed to go.

To give some credit where it's due, there's one sequence late in the game where you chase a convoy on a horse that's pretty sweet but moments like this are rare. Often I just felt confused and had no idea where to head next.

This is the prototype Michael Bay Film of videogames. They threw all their money on production values and the engine, and then forgot to design an actual game around their shiny interactive thing. In this light, the whole discussion about the 8/10 Eurogamer gave the title is becoming even more ridiculous.

Simon Parkin addressed all the faults that are blaringly obvious and I even find 8/10 flattering now that I've experienced the game myself. How the hell is this game rated that good everywhere?

Really, is this some kind of conspiracy or am I mad? I'd be very grateful if some of you could share your impressions so I know I'm not alone.

Fake Edit: Gonna play some Dark Souls now to calm myself down.
